The government is going to invest hell a lot of money, at least 10 billion ringgit, into Iskandar Development Region (IDR). How effective is this idea? Can we attract successfully investors? What benefits would this development bring? How many people will be benefited?

OK let's consider an alternative idea: build a canal from the west coast to the east coast.

This canal will connect Penang (Seberang Perai) to Kota Bahru, crossing four states: Penang, Kedah, Perak, and Kelantan. Hence, we shall call it PKPK canal.

So what are the pros and cons of this idea?

Advantages:

1. Reduces travelling time between the two points. Time saved can be as much as 14 days.
2. Boost economy of the said four states.
3. Put Singapore into a dead corner, as nobody would sail through Singapore to get to East Asia.
4. Reduces the risk of facing the pirates of strait of Melaka.

Disadvantages:

1. Impact the business of Port Klang and Johor Bahru.
2. Serious corruptions during the construction of the canal.

Technically, I believe the amount required to build such a canal is far less than what would be spent on the IDR project. In return, this will benefit much more people from the four states than just Johor Bahru.. and Singapore.

我不是説賺錢不好，可是像我常説的，賺錢應該腳踏實地。什麽是腳踏實地？努力的付出所賺的每一分血汗錢。這樣的回報是應得的。

什麽不是腳踏實地？投資，投機，買股票，直銷，等所有付出和回報不成正比的都不屬於腳踏實地。

每一個人都想成爲比爾蓋茨，可是沒有人像成爲霍金教授。因爲比爾有花不完的錢，霍金教授只有一個虛名。

也沒有人想成爲特麗莎修女。

比爾成功嗎？說不成功我肯定會被人打，被人說我酸葡萄。可是我想說的是，早期的比爾是成功的。現在的比爾充其量只是一位賺很多錢的商人。利用很多錢賺取更多的錢。

再説一次。賺錢不是壞事。只是，像這樣茫無目的的賺錢，相信我，這樣會間接的傷害地球。

怎麽說？看看，爲了賺錢，許多不必要的產品（殘品）都被發明出來了。像許多合成製品。這些產品爲人類帶來極微小的便利，對地球卻造成了莫大無比的傷害。

離題了。

現在的人都想不費勞力，大把大把的賺。最好就是坐著等錢自動的飛進口袋。所以有了“專利權”，“知識產權”，這些不像樣的法令。只要一個不小心想出一個爛點子，明天可能就成了千萬富翁。互聯網上就充斥了許多這樣的所謂的“商機”。

我對人類的明天是非常悲觀的。

From the local newspaper I can see that the conman are still actively running around conning people. Best of all, amongst these victims are no less of those so-called "educated" middle-class white-collar people. One of them was even a LAW student!!!

Do you believe you have just won one million dollar when someone told you over the phone?

Do you believe the judgment day is coming, and that you should give a way all your belongings to somebody special?

I am always puzzled and not quite understand how these conman managed to con our money so easily and successfully. Furthermore these are not small amount of notes but tens' or hundreds' of thousands of dollars. Don't these victims think twice before making such decisions?

Don't these people read newspapers? Are they really too greedy? Or they are naive enough? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out.

How do scientists able to tell you the distance between two stars is, says, 342316743 km? How do scientists know the age of the dinosaur is 65 million years old? How do scientists know the weight of our earth?

The answer is: based on the mathematical model.

Yes, it is just a model. The close-approximation model. It never be perfect, but to high degree of approximation.

How do these work? Let's take a look at an example.

In the old days, when human wanted to know the distance between two points, says, their houses, they walked. They counted the number of steps taken to arrive from their house to the other's. They then defined the unit "foot".

"The distance between my house and your house is 876 feet.", They said.

Then they walked for longer distance. They started the journey when the sun had just raised. They stopped when the sun reached exactly over their head. They then rode a horse to run for the same distance. Then they calculated the horse's speed in relative to the human speed, i.e. how many time faster is horse compared to human, i.e. the horse-human ratio.

To measure the even much longer distance, they no longer sending human, but horse. From the time taken by the horse, together with the above horse-human ratio, they then able to tell the approximate distance between these two longer points, in terms of "foot".

This is how science works. No prophets, no hearsays. Everything are recorded and proved step-by-step.

We may one day discover the fact that there exists an ultimate god by means of science. If it is discovered through these steps, I will accept it.

Not from the day-dreamers' mouth, or somebody who woke up from nightmare and tell you they had a nice dinner with the god, and god told them what to do.
