I am so sorry for not updating my blog for a while now. It has been a busy time around this old place here of late but things are just about to get back to normal again---I think .

Maybe this coming week I can get back in here a do my blog justice by getting her going again.

I hope everyone is having a nice Spring so far. It has kept me busy getting my yard up and going . Just a few more bushes to trim and we will be ready to sit down and begin to enjoy some. I have to get my humming bird feeders back out to, they are a true joy to watch.

My new pony Ginger is a real treat for me. I am 53 (just turned on the 18th) but when it comes to animals and the outdoors, I feel like a big kid. I have always wanted a pony and low and behold, my youngest won her at the grand opening here at a near by pay lake. She was an early birthday surprise----nice one to , she has really brought the big kid out in me.

Hope all has been doing well since I have been out and that your Spring Time has been an enjoyable one so far.

I was born in Battlecreek, Michigan back in 1953. Kellogg Cereal home town. 

Yes, I am an old woman now by what some folks definition of age is. I must admit, sometimes I feel older than 52--so many new aches and pains have reared their ugly heads here in the past recent years of my life. I am blessed greatly though, for I do not have any of the ailments that most my age do like--high blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems, or good old arthur (arthritis), lol---or as my dear sweet Grandmother use to call them, "the ritis boys". I thank God every day for this blessing, for I know that most my age do have these--at least one of the above, and some folks have them all, and more.  

The first years of my life was spent growng up in the city. Downtown 5th avenue in Nashville, TN--just 3 blocks from the old Arcade. My Mom would always do our shopping for just about everything in downtown. It was long before malls where a part of the everyday norm. We had ice delivered each day for the old ice box and fresh milk was left on the front porch each morning. I would always beg Mom for at least one of the bottles of milk to please be chocolate--lol, somethings never change, I still like my chocolate.

The lady that I have spoke of so far as being my Mom, she was actually my foster Mom. She took on the roll of raising me when My real Mother moved back home from Michigan when I was 3 months old. She had a hard life to say the least back then. She did her best being a single Mom, but could not make enough to take care of us both the way we needed. She meet and got to know Miss Artie (my foster Mom--fine lady) while working as a waitress for her at her and my foster Dad's (Daddy George) country diner.

Miss Artie (from here out, I will call them both what I always did, Miss Artie was Mom, and my real Mom, I always called Mother) was truely one of a kind, and so was Daddy George. They could not have children, and to hear them tell it back then, I was God sent. They proceeded to spoil me rotten--lol, wasn't to bad.

( a time out, I will be back shortly to finish, I have a guest that has came by--I want to tell you the rest of the story of  just how I became a died in the wool country girl---stay tuned--I will be sure to hurry back and finish----)

Sorry for such a long delay---guest stayed a bit longer than expected.

Now, back to it.

My folks are from the Appalachian and to them, family is everything. By the time I reached the age of seven, My Grandmother (German decent) and my Grandfather (Scott/Irish decent) had just about had all they could bare of someone else raising their Grand daughter. Mother just did not have much of a choice in those days, but family ties were strong to the old folk of the mountains. So, my Grandmother proceeded in DEMANDING that Mother go and get me, and bring me back home, where I belonged. Needless to say, she did. It just about broke Mom and Daddy George's heart. After 7 years, I was gone. Mom told me years later, when I had grown into a young woman, that at the time, it was the right thing to do, even though it hurt them so much, It would have been selfish of them to keep me from ever knowing my real family and my roots.  

Needless to say, this seven year old, big city raised, spoiled rotten, anything I wanted, when I wanted it, little girl was in for the shock of her life. Nothing would ever be the same (she did not even have a clue). 

I can remember the trip to my Grand Parents farm (Mother still could not provide for me). I had NEVER been out of the city, and the hill sides and the farms as we drove by them was all so new to me.  It was like another world. No big city buildings, no traffic to speak of, no city buses (the smell of their exaust fumes where no more), no more evening popsicle for a nickel from the popsicle man, no more riding the carosel pony downtown on Saturdays, no more fancy frilly dresses from Harvey's Dept. Store, no more of the brand new, just released on the martket toys (no having to wait), especially for my favorite Ken and Barbie---you get the picture. Oh yes, one more thing. If I awoke at 2:00 in the morning and wanted ice cream, Daddy George would go out to the store and buy it-----They had royally spoiled this little girl tee--totally rotten.
