4 weeks came and went. a lot can happen in 4 weeks. in more ways than one the time passes by with a blink of an eye.

this morning at 5:30am, uncle eddie passed on. just a little over the 4 weeks the doctor gave him. i want to write more, but at the moment the words can't seem to form. so i'll leave it at that.

you always were the funny guy uncle. you never failed to make us all laugh during our family get-togethers. we're all gonna miss you . . .

4 Weeks.

it's funny how circumstances can skew your perception of time.

4 weeks, a whole month, 4 weekends, 30 something days.

if you're into agile at work, that's 2 whole sprints.

at the moment, that's how much time my uncle's got left to live. apparently the doctor's have given up on chemo and any other treatment for his lung cancer.

seriously, if you're a smoker... you really need to think on it.

4 fucking weeks. my cousin's wedding was going to be in four weeks. now he won't even get to see his daughter get married.

. . .

Socal Flickr Meet

so there i was, enjoying a hearty meal of spaghetti sauce and rice when my buddy rich gives me a ring.

"hey you ready? i'm outside...." he says.

so began my first ever flickr meet.

what's a flickr meet you ask? well turns out rich's been meeting up with other flickr photographers for these meets. pretty low key and friendly, this month everyone met up at the LA arboretum in arcadia. not too far from my apt.

anyways, like i said... pretty low key and friendly, it was nice meeting up with other amateur photographers. basically we just kinda moseyed all around the arboretum taking shots of whatever caught our eyes. tables full of mushrooms, peacocks, each other, the fountains. fun stuff. definitely different from wandering around solo on a photoshoot.

it's nice seeing how a small part of yahoo! can get people together. i also got a bit of camera envy, so now i'mma upgrade my sony to something... nicer. my poor baby's had her run... lens housing is falling apart. i've always wanted to get a bit more serious about my photography... this has definitely bumped up my motivation.

my set of shots.

back in the groove. sorta. kinda. not really.

f.y.i. never date a woman who can throw you through a wall.

so i've kick started my routine of going back into the gym again.

it's nice to see how all the gym stereotypes i was used to up in the bay are all exaggerated down here in socal. i particularly love watching chicks with makeup on..

sweating...

running...

and anticipating...

them falling face first on the treadmill as their vision blurs from the foundation/sweat mix in their eyes.

hey it could happen.

on my way back to the parking structure i passed by three fobby asian dudes smokin some pot on their way to the gym. always great to see my fellow minorities with their head on straight.

one thing i've always loved about the gym. no matter how bad your day. the physical exertion does a good job dulling out all your pent up frustrations and angst.

feels great to be in pain.
