<description><![CDATA[Well we made the move and we are no worse for wear.  It took the movers 4 hours to pack and about the same to unload,<br />

Jenn spent the morning unpacking the kitchen and I unpacked the family room.  I spent several hours setting up the surround sound and the pulled out half the cords when putting it in the entertainment center...oh well.<br />

<title><![CDATA[Snow Daze]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[<p style=""><font size="3"><font face="Times New Roman">So it snowed yesterday and I want a snow day.<span style="">  </span>I don’t get one, but I want one.<span style="">  </span>I just want to veg.<span style="">  </span></font></font></p> <p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman"> </font></p> <p style=""><font size="3"><font face="Times New Roman">One week from today, we close on our current house.<span style="">  </span>Then we move the following Tuesday.<span style="">  </span>I am sooooo ready to move, but I guess I have to be patient.<span style="">  </span></font></font></p> <p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman"> </font></p> <p style=""><font size="3"><font face="Times New Roman">I am looking forward to moving day.<span style="">  </span>I hired movers, so no heavy lifting for me.<span style="">  </span>I just like meeting new neighbors.<span style="">  </span>It is a fresh start.<span style="">  </span>I can put my best foot forward (by acting like someone else…not).<span style="">  </span></font></font></p> <p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman"> </font></p> <p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">That Sunday we also start at the new church.<span style="">  </span>In the past, when I started at a new church, I was mostly invisible for the first few Sundays.<span style="">  </span>This time, that will be impossible.<span style="">  </span>As soon as they introduce Jenn, I will be instantly recognizable.<span style="">  </span>We will see how that goes.</font></p> <p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman"> </font></p> <p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">In both cases, the move and the new church, I have to find my niche.<span style="">  </span>I am not in a hurry, but I am looking forward to it.</font></p>]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[A Good Day]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[<p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">Today was a good day.<span style="">  </span>It has been awhile.<span style="">  </span>But today, three good things happened.<span style="">  </span>First and foremost, Jenn got the job at Crossroads UMC.<span style="">  </span>She starts February 1<sup>st</sup>.</font></p> <p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman"> </font></p> <p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">Second, we cleared the final hurdle of our home purchase.</font></p> <p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman"> </font></p> <p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">Third, I heard from an old friend today.</font></p> <p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman"> </font></p> <p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">Today is a good day to be an Earthling.</font></p>]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<p><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">I just like that word.<span> </span>It has little to do with this posting.</font></p> <p><font size="3" face="Times New Roman"></font></p> <p><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">Today is the last day of a four day weekend.<span> </span>Tomorrow I return to a chaotic office.<span> </span>January is out busiest time of year.<span> </span>Going from slow vacation days to busy overtime jolts the system.<span> </span>It makes me feel old.</font></p> <p><font size="3" face="Times New Roman"></font></p> <p><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">Today in between planning our move, we are going bowling.<span> </span>We have lived in our current house just under 11 years.<span> </span>When we moved in, the house was practically empty.<span> </span>Now it is stuffed full of junk.<span> </span>It is a sad commentary on our lives.</font></p> <p><font size="3" face="Times New Roman"></font></p> <p><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">Anyhow…Happy New Year to all.<span> </span>Now get back to work.</font></p>]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[It’s the end of the year as we know it and I feel fine.]]></title>

<title><![CDATA[Christmas Vacation…well at least a couple days off.]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[<p style=""><font size="3"><font face="Times New Roman">Today was unofficially the second day of my Christmas vacation.<span style="">  </span>I was off yesterday, but only because Ethan was sick.<span style="">  </span>We had a nice lazy morning and then went to the air and space museum by our house. <span style=""> </span>While there we watch an IMAX film of Santa vs. the Snowman.<span style="">  </span>It was an awful movie…but it was big and loud.<span style="">  </span>So of course Ethan enjoyed it.<span style="">  </span>We watched the planes come in and out of Dulles International for a while and looked at the space shuttle.<span style="">  </span></font></font></p> <p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman"> </font></p> <p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">Not a bad day all and all.<span style="">  </span>Jenn’s interview at Crossroads went well.<span style="">  </span>We will not hear if she got the job until after the holidays.<span style="">  </span>We are visiting the church tomorrow to see if we fit in.<span style="">  </span>It should be interesting.</font></p> <p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman"> </font></p> <p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">The picture with Jenn and Ethan is the Enola Gay.<span style="">  </span>Nothing like taking a photo in front of the plane that killed tens of thousands of people.<span style="">  </span>Merry Christmas.</font></p>]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[Deck them in the Mall]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[<p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">We went to my least favorite place in the world during the month of December, the mall.<span style="">  </span>Santa was on a break when we got there, so we did other shopping.<span style="">  </span>Then I stood in line for an hour and a half so Ethan could beg from Jolly ole’ St. Nick.<span style="">  </span>The same Santa has worked at our mall since he was born, so that is one less awkward explanation we have to make.<span style="">  </span>Ethan made reasonable requests, so I think the fat man will come through in the end.<span style="">  </span>And by fat man, I of course mean me.</font></p> <p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman"> </font></p> <p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">In other news, Jenn did not get the choir director job at our church.<span style="">  </span>It was not a pleasant experience.<span style="">  </span>Things were said.<span style="">  </span>People were hurt.<span style="">  </span>But we are moving on.<span style="">  </span>Enough said.</font></p> <p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman"> </font></p> <p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">In other news, our contract on a new-ish house was accepted.<span style="">  </span>So we will be moving to beautiful downtown Ashburn at the end of January.<span style="">  </span>The new house has a porch overlooking the park across the street.<span style="">  </span>So that is kind of cool.</font></p> <p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman"> </font></p> <p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">I have been feeling old of late.<span style="">  </span>Not in the body breaking down sense, but in the wow the world is being run by 20 somethings.<span style="">  </span>I don’t know why 40 is such a sobering age.<span style="">  </span>30 was no big deal for me.<span style="">  </span>I guess the knowledge that life causes me to pause.<span style="">   </span>I have not made much of an impact with the first half.<span style="">  </span>If I want to improve the world I inhabit, I better get with it.<span style="">  </span>In a blink the second half will be over and I will be ground cover.</font></p> <p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman"> </font></p> <p style=""><font size="3"><font face="Times New Roman">Tonight is family movie night.<span style="">  </span>We are watching Flubber.<span style="">  </span>I am getting to watch all of the G movies I avoided the last 20 years.<span style="">  </span>I have not missed much.<span style="">  </span></font></font></p> <p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman"> </font></p> <p style=""><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">Onward and upward.</font></p>]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[Trust]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[<p><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">I have had real trust issues with Christian organizations ever since I worked at a Bible College.<span> </span>It really rocks me to the core when people of faith turn on one of their own and hurt them.<span> </span>If faith in a god does not change a person or persons, then what is the use?<span> </span>I thought I had found a sanctuary from the madness, but apparently not.</font></p> <p><font size="3" face="Times New Roman"></font></p> <p><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">I am really too angry to write clearly, but the long and the short is this.<span> </span>Jenn has been involved in the music ministry at our church for 11 years.<span> </span>She leads multiple choirs and the quality is excellent.<span> </span>Her dream was always to be the director there.<span> </span>When this job opened up, she carefully read the qualifications.<span> </span>She exceeded every one of them.<span> </span>And yet, they have decided to hire from the outside.</font></p> <p><font size="3" face="Times New Roman"></font></p> <p><font size="3"><font face="Times New Roman">Unbelievable!<span> </span>I am blind with rage.<span> </span>Hopefully this sinking feeling will go away.<span> </span>But I doubt it.<span style="color:#333333; "></span></font></font></p>]]></description>
