A picture from USA-Austria in the U-20 World Cup. Every time a player plays in a soccer game, he is said to earn a "cap." This is my 2nd time watching the USA in a World Cup match. Sadly, the US lost this game, but the American team played well and showed a great deal of promise and poise.

I debated where to put this photo in the list. It was one of my top three, but which one? I decided, however, that this photo should be number one since I'm posting it on July 4th. This is the First Navy Jack flying from the USS Wisconsin. This flag is essentially the first battle flag of the US Navy, with the 13 stripes we're all used to, the rattlesnake that was a consistent symbol of American revolutionary fervor, and the phrase "Don't Tread On Me."

Happy July 4th everyone.
