War on Terrorism - More than the Military

Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, ... ..., the global war on terrorism is going on. In essence, it is not likely that these military operations can accomplish its ultimate goal in the very near future.

In cooperating with these military actions, mainly in Iraq and Afganistan, is there any auxillary measure that this government, or American, can take to make America safer, such as catalyzing democratic social reforms of Muslim nations?

(My thought: The cause of the war will be more worthy if it is not just for rooting out terrorism from a certain region of the world, or ousting certain ones from a regime or organization, but spreading freedom and justice or even the Christianity to the foreign soil.)

Republican and Democrats

The Republican Party and the Democratic Party are the biggest players in the US politics. Basically, all policies about this country, from education to economy and from energy to foreign policy, have to go through the bargains between these two parties. (Please tell me if I am wrong.)

Some people criticize the Democrates that they go against the traditional value of America while Republican are criticized as too conservative.

Personally, as some (at least) American, I cannot fully agree with any one of these two parties. How about you? How do you think about it? Is there anything that we can do?

Freedom and Faith (Christianity)

As many people believe, the United States of America is indeed the "One Nation Under God" and "Found under God's name". Also, Freedom is what we have been proclaiming for hundreds of years.

However, when it goes to conflicts between the Christian doctrine and the some social issues, such as gay rights, abortion or even the pledge of allegience with the phrase "Under God" for public school students, where shall American stand?

I have been in the San Francisco Bay Area of California for years. You can see different people with different colors, religious and sex preferences. Just in August 2005, I moved to Texas, a relatively conservative state, for school. I could tell that there are difference of how Californian and Texan think.

This is a question that I think about all the time. Any of your comments are anticipated, as long as it is responsible. Also, if you could, please state a little bit about your background such as religious belief, nationality or which state you are from, if applicable. Thank you!
