In the 3/31/08 Woman’s World’s Stephanie Saible shares the cereal diet (basically the Special K challenge where you have two bowls of cereal and a healthy dinner) with the ABSOLUTE GENIUS LINE “The No-cook Supermarket Diet.”

Although the cover says loose 9 pounds in 5 days, the article states the average is about 10 pounds in one week.
The Fad Diet Experiment Unfolds.....

I have been having a lot of trouble sticking to diets and I really need to get rid of this extra weight that I put on after becoming sedentary after the accident a couple years ago.

So it would appear that I have developed some sort of Diet ADD. After a week or so I get bored and give up.

While standing in line at grocery stores I glance over magazine diets that proclaim that you can loose 10 pounds in a week, 5 pounds in 9 days, 20 pounds by a certain time.... blah blah.

So I have decided that I am going to start an experimental Fad Diet - Magazine Diet. I promise to stick to the diet without wavering and report in and let you, the reader, know whether or not the diet is working or does what it claims. After one diet is over I will immediately begin the next diet with no days off until I reach my goal or determine the whole thing is a waste of time.

Wish me luck!

I'm on a quest..... to be the best!!!

The Zaar World Tour is a fun game that my friend Leslie and I started in the summer of 2005.

The Zaar World Tour is a fun cooking game/competition where chefs are placed on a team and virtually travel the world in their kitchens. The teams visited the 13 Regionals Forums on RecipeZaar ( Africa, Asia, Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Eastern Europe, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Jewish, Mexico and Scandinavia) at specific times and picked recipes from other players or their teammates for each region. The regions changed periodically and as a large group we would flock to the forum and learn about the different cuisines and cook their various dishes. The original intention of the game was to familiarize Zaar members with the different forums and introduce players to new cuisines while meeting new people and above all, having fun.

2006 brought about Zaar World Tour II. With more then double the players of the first tours the game was expanded to include some of the other forums that are on Zaar. Due to the large number of participants, Mama's Kitchen and kzbhansen were brought on board to co-host the event. To add to the excitement, RecipeZaar donated $1,000 dollars to a charity chosen by the winning team. It was a neck to neck race to the finish that ended in a tie between two teams. The $1,000 prize was split between the winning teams' charities: Doctors without Borders (Quisine Queens) and Second Harvest (Cavorting Chefs).

Over a thousand, maybe even thousands, of recipes and photographs were added to Recipezaar's database and these recipes are seen on countless websites attributed to both RecipeZaar and the Zaar World Tour.

2007 will see a Zaar World Tour III! The new game is currently under construction and has brought on even more hosts.

I have put together a video of the Zaar World Tour as a teaser to the Zaar World Tour III. The images of the recipes were all taken by the Chefs that were participating.
Click on Photo to Start Video

The Single Most Romantic Moment of My Entire Life......

December 23rd began as a pretty typical lazy Saturday mountain morning. Warm blankets and quite coziness was soon replaced with loud laughter and giggles as Ty and his dog, Harley, joined us for the family morning tickling ritual. A quick breakfast of hot chocolate and cinnamon toast was followed by our usual rushing (due to Saturday lazy procrastination) to get Ty to Grandmom Lois's house so we could do some last minute Christmas shopping.

I was pretty chipper and my usual chatty happy-go-lucky self and was really looking forward to going to the toy store (I think I was more excited about Santa coming then Ty!). KC turned the wrong way to go to Toy's R Us (and of course I let him know he was going the wrong way ). He said he needed to grab something at the mall and ... well.... soon I found myself in front of the engagement ring counter at Kay's! I was nervous, excited, self conscious, flustered, happy and about a thousand other emotions all balled up into one. I knew we were getting married but getting the ring was just such a surprise. Sort of a "seal the deal."

For the girlfriends that want to see the 360 degree rotating image of my new ring click here and then click on the image of the ring - then click on 360 Rotation under ring on next page. I love this ring. It is so beautiful.

KC asked me to marry him again and I started to cry. Women! LOL!
We were on the Sunset Terrace of the Grove Park Inn overlooking the mountains right at sunset. It just doesn't get any more romantic then that!

I was so excited I barley even glanced at the annual Gingerbread House Competition! We walked hand in hand around the Inn.... I was so giddy! We were unable to get a table at any of the six restaurants at the Grove Park so we went to eat at a restaurant I really love (and have not been to in years) called the Greenery. We had a wonderful dinner and KC even had escargot! The staff was so excited for us and the manager brought over a bottle of delicious Louis Roederer Champagne! (this is a beverage blog after all!

It was one of the most romantic evenings of my entire life... with the man I love more then anything & with whom I will spend the rest of my days.

We had a pretty non-eventful lazy weekend. On Saturday KC, Ty and I went to KC's mom house to visit and have dinner.
I was happy to find out that Micheladas, although Mexican, go very well with Polish Keilbasa Dogs! Sort of like a Margarita but without the kick of the tequilla. I wonder if Michelada is related to Margarita.
