Staying connected with family & friends is what life is all about! Stay happy & laugh a bit!
Monday, another first of yet another week. Website updates and issues abound. www.simplylesa.com I'm proud that I bought the domain and all. I have to find a way to work more with public computers. I'm just so into simplifying and I don't feel it's appropriate for me to own a computer right now. I have access to many freebees so it's an unnecessary expense to own one. I'm looking for the appropriate way to host my sight inexpensively and to be able to work online and add a paypal donate button, all glitchy issues still today. I certainly hope to have these solved in a few days.
I've been processing lives ups and downs the past few days. Seems that a lot of odd stuff isn't going my way right now - like the bathroom shelf fell down and all the towels got wet! Big hairy deal right, well sometime's it's just one more thing and even I wonder 'what the...', 'when did I create this?' or ' can I learn something from this, cause I like the happier, smoothier times best of all'.
So, I'm chosing to take it a bit slower, stay in the present (NOW - no opportunity wasted) and go with the flow.
I hung the new calendar at Westerly Market's Juice Bar this morning. Recieved a few more phone call RSVP's for the Men's Gathering. This thing is drawing a lot of attention and I'm glad it seems to be turning out well so far.
I spoke with the DJ that I'd like to hire for the Holiday Party. He's more expensive than I expected, though I do think his price is fair. It concerns me that I will be able to afford to pull off this party without going into debt. I need people to pay for thier tickets early so that I know they are serious about coming. I can't afford even the food on my own for this one. And I'm sure others would like a nice dinner/dance party as much I want one.
Linda at Westerly is trying out a couple new Raw recipes in preparation for the holidays. It's nice to support her efforts. I find that it is very helpful to support people where there are - I might be in a different place myself but I needed support along my journey. That's why I am so eager to encourage the raw food community to enjoy the company of different people with different food ideas. We are all aiming to become healthier and if we keep that focus, how can we get judgemental or indifferent or argue or get pushy ... hey, we're just people doing what people do - so make a new friend and geez if they are different, embrace the difference. It doesn't mean you have to change your ideas or what you chose for your life in order to make a new aquaintance or friend.
I visited with my friend Stephen yesterday, it was a nice chat and he shared some of his poetry with me. It was so nice to connect again and to be heard and understood. It also was nice to be reminded of writing 'morning pages' - I used to do that once upon a time - in a land far far away (teehee), I've been thinking that a new blank book is in my future for just that - just 'morning pages' random or not so random writing, sketching, singing on paper whatever my soul needs each day. Focus is helpful at times and I've seen some of the future I'm creating, tho I feel a bit out of touch with the present and closer at hand creation.... (and I share/teach this to others... omgosh you mean I'm human too! should I let that out? lol -- it's all good)
I've just upgraded my website as well, and bought the domain name www.simplylesa.com. The next step for me is creating the new actual sight pages although being at the mercy of public computers for the moment, I've got a slight issue with the software. Ehh, the price of keeping it simple, using what you have and traveling light! The universe has a great solution for me... I am excited to see what form that will take, I love surprises!
Hugs
Wow, it has been a while since I visited here!
Being a raw foodist sure has changed my life. I have friends, I'm beautiful and slim and I think clearly, feel deeply and see the connection in everything I do.
I struggle off and on with the availability of fruits in New York. We have wonderful markets and stores though the prices of organic are not EBT (food stamp) or low income friendly. I can't thank Westerly Market and their produce manager Alphonso enough for marking down bruised or ripe and ready fruit before throwing it away. The prices of their marked down produce have allowed me to continue my 80/10/10 lifestyle. For a while I was buying bananas by the case which is a good way to both assure that you have enough reserve fruit and keep the expenses down. The reason I stopped buying that way was that I had a box all turn ripe in 2 days and since I've stopped eating frozen, it was a challenge to use up and give away all those ready right now bananas. I may try it again when the weather is a bit cooler.
I chose to not use air conditioning this year - brave aren't I? and I feel fine, I've been a bit sweaty a couple afternoons although I'm definately not suffering as my a/c using neighbors seem to be. I rather enjoy the breeze coming in my window and often go to the pier to catch more breeze off the river :)
I was feeling a bit tired the past couple days, then realized that I had not been eating any lettuces or greens for over a week. Last night and today I made really BIG salads w/tomato, lettuce, apple and lemon juice. Breakfast has been yummy - 1/2 a watermelon!
I'm adding more activity to my days by doing the Tibetan 5 Rites excersizes. I started July 1 with a goal of doing them daily, with the exception of only taking 1 day off a week (if I really need or want to). I've done well and only took this past Saturday off, I was really tired, slept extra and basically took the whole day off.
I'm slowly writing my story into book/booklet/e-book form as so many people want to hear the story of how I came to let go of 130 pounds in one year. Writing is presenting challenges that I continue to process.
Oh, I want to also congradulate my friend Stephen Parker for making life changes and taking on a month long training challenge while camping! (check out www.rawdish.com) I'm looking forward to hearing from him again soon.
More Raw Food Picnics in NYC with RHHS and Raw Food MeetUp.com getting together July 22 at the pond called The Pool (C train to 103 St, cross the street into the park and look for us). We'll be there from 4- until! bring raw, organic fruits and veggies for you and to share. Frizbie, Food & Fun! oh and if you play an instrument bring it too!
