deep thoughts

Look at my boys! Aren't they adorable? Stacey and I talked just a couple days ago about what we would like to happen if one of us died or was incapacitated. We're looking to start life insurance plans for us as well as the children. Plus beginning to plan our funerals so the cost wouldn't be a burden to our kids should something happen to us.

I'd like to see if we can go through one company to get life insurance, auto insurance and homeowners insurance. I'm sure we could get a better rate if we consolidate rather than use separate companies. It's so much to think about and so morbid it seems for me. But it's something we have to do, it's a part of growing up. I think if something happened to one of us, our home or our cars it will be better if we are prepared and insured as opposed to if we were caught uninsured and left with nothing.

helping my mom get settled
My mom has been through a lot in her life, she's also overcome A LOT as well. I'm so proud of her for the effort and change she has committed to put into her life. I see it, I see it in the joy she gets from spending time with her grandkids, and the things she does to help me out like babysitting so I can go to the tutor for school. She never did things like that before, fact she never did much of anything in her past. She's changed that and it's been wonderful.

Mom recently moved into her very own apartment, which she is super proud of. She;s been working on getting things like cable, phone service and such. Due to some bad choices in her past she isn't able to get a phone in her name without paying a very large deposit. She can't afford the deposit and is working on cleaning up her credit but needs a phone now. Stacey and I looked into prepaid cell phones as a possible solution for her. It could have helped her out, and she could have the accessibility of a cell phone without the huge deposit or binding contract. When she runs out of minutes then she has to buy more rather than getting overage charges which are outrageous and can make your bill skyrocket.
We found some great deals and after doing some figuring, we decided it would be best economically for mom (and us) to add her to our phone plan and if we stay within our plan it will only cost us $10 extra a month. We already have a ton of minutes left over every month to begin with so why not? Heres the beauty of the deal; mom is going to pay for her phone bill in BABYSITTING! She's going to babysit one weekend a month for us in turn for us paying her phone bill. That's worth it alone!!!!

it's finally quiet

The boys have been running non stop tonight and I am so glad they are down for the night. I can't tell you how frustrating it is sometimes.

We watched The Oscars Sunday night and it was divine! Helen Mirren looked fabulous and just glowed. I was so happy for Jennifer Hudson, it's like a fairy tale for her I'm sure. I can't even imagine being talented enough to win an Oscar. Melissa Etheridge won for best song for the documentary An Inconvenient Truth. I was so stoked, it's always nice to see gay people succeed lol! Life is good, really good :)

Best day ever
Best day ever magnify
It's been a wonderful weekend so far. We all got haircuts, I got my color re-done and a new cut/style, even Sophie got treated to a day of beauty I can't wait to post pics of her new bows. She got pretty bows on each ear, her teeth brushed, bathed and groomed up pretty. *sigh* I love this dog lol. We went to a Chinese New Year event this afternoon after the boys basketball game, it was really cool.

I can't even convey how awesomely happy I am about having Sophie in our lives. I really adore her and I am not an animal person. She is the best dog I've ever encountered. I love snuggling with her and giving her attention. She is so friendly, the boys adore her and she is very very patient which is a huge thing with the boys. Look at how pretty she is!
