writing more in my Blog lately, as I'm working up to getting back to writing short stories and my long delayed novel

Now on YouTube
You can find me at

YouTube.com/jayjayfroggy

I've made several videos, and have more planned. Since my son, who is very popular there as a raving atheist, featured me, I've managed over 600 subscribers, and one video, Meher Baba vs. atheism, has a liget 1,200 plus views.

two other videos though, showing thousands of views, only have those numbers because my son temporarily had them on his channel with auto-play.

Come join the fun!

Peace and Love,

Jay

looks like I'm leaving Yahoo 360
Its been fun, but I just haven't been blogging here, and thats that. However, I did just set up a new computer desk (haven't had an internet home connection for some time until now) and plan on getting back into blogging and social networking. This time though, I'm going to try the ever popular MySpace. You can find me at

Although I haven't done much at the site yet

Peace and Love,

Walmart sustainability an oxymoron?
I was really glad to run across this article about the former twenty-something head of the, otherwise gentrified, Sierra Club a few years back. I hadn't kept up on at all with this amazing environmentalist, Adam Werbach. See....

Werbach at Wal-Mart?

from yesterday's San Francisco Chronicle.

So.....the question is....is WalMart savable in a world desperately needing to turn towards sustainability, or should we try only to drive it into oblivion? Or, on a larger scale, when is it better to work from within a dysfunctional system to improve it, and when is it better to try and battle it to the end? I've tended to fall in with the cynical and the warriors, but Werbach's story is hard to ignore. Sometimes, I think, real changes only happen in small steps, and it's fairy-tale thinking to expect a corporation or political enemy to simply go away completely, no matter how much we'd like to see that happen.

Back to WalMart..... my biggest concern is that most everything they sell comes from far off China, and is shipped via a shipping industry with ships registered in foreign nations that have no interest in regulating environmental standards. The current situation is that those ships create as much pollution as the sum total of all the automobiles of the USA, and our oceans and ozone layer are suffering badly from those ships. Also, I've hated to see small family businesses go down the tubes when WalMart moves in. But, as Werbach says, when something as big as WalMart makes a move towards sustainability, there's a really big change.....far bigger change in carbon footprint than anything he was able to effect working in the Sierra Club.

I find the current race for Democratic nomination reflecting a similar diversity of attitudes when it comes to Universal Health Care. Myself, I have just about zero tolerance for or current Insurance Companies, who, after all, run with such a high profit margin in mind for bosses and shareholders, that they only pay out something like 10% in claims of the money they take in on selling policies. John Edwards says he'll stand up and fight them, as he's done in court as a lawyer. Barack Obama says sit down with them and negotiate, and his message of unifying seems very appealing to many. Hilary Clinton seems to have no problem taking money from pharmaceutical companies for her campaign.

My 25 wishes for 2008
Fanciful, personal, and general ways I hope that 2008 turns out to be a fantastic year.

1) That more and more people realize that learning kindness is more important than learning to make money.

2) That my wildlife photography takes off in 2008, making me lots of money.

3) That God forgives me for all my hypocrisy and backbiting.

4) That I manage to travel to the Meher Baba Spiritual Center in Myrtle Beach, and also to see all four of my sons sometime during the year.

5) That I continue to make progress in improving my health and diet.

6) That I and all I know take our difficulties and accept them as lessons to be learned by overcoming adversity.

7) That more people give up smoking, especially teenagers.

8) That I get back, at least a little, to writing short stories.

9) That politics continues to be at least as entertaining as sports and celebrity gossip!

10) That housing prices fall to a more reasonable level, and large numbers of homeless find shelter.

11) That a whole movement starts to build small, even tiny, affordable housing.

12) That here where I live in the California deserts, we get Springtime rains that bring abundant wildflowers.

13) That I get to attend at least three Native American Powwows.

14) That I'm lucky enough to photograph even more Bighorn Sheep in Joshua Tree National Park.

15) For really large numbers of troops to come home from Iraq, and the death rate of Iraqis to drop just as fast.

16) That I get to watch at least one NBA basketball finals game on High Definition TV.

17) That, other than the above, I generally get to avoid TV for another year!

18) That I get to see a desert tortoise happily munching down Springtime wildflowers.

19) That at least one person during the year takes a serious interest in asking me questions about Meher Baba as Avatar of the Age.

20) That I get at least one good showing, craft fair or gallery, of my Ojos de Dios mandalas.

21) The same for my wildlife photos of bighorn sheep, and that my websites continue to grow.

22) That I, and others, can feel happy and fulfilled, even if none of my/our wishes come true, knowing that God gives us exactly the lessons, be they obstacles or blessings, that we need in life.

23) That I manage some time as a volunteer, feeling that I can be of real help.

24) That I learn to smile more.

25) That anyone who reads this far, leaves a comment!
