What I think, What I Believe & Things that happen to me

This Is England

Warning spoilers!

Well tonight I can say that another movie's been added to the list of my all time favorites, this 2006 BAFTA winner pictures the life of a 12 years old boy named Shaun in 1983 who becomes friend with some older people & therefore experiences & observes things that an average 12 years old would never have.

Director Shane Meadows has written this story based on his own experiences & I strongly believe no one can write such a story & make it feel real unless he or she has gone through those bitter, sweet & awkward moments. The story covers everything from fashion, flirting & pot to The Falklands war, social dysfunction & mainly racism, without loosing touch with the honesty & innocence of a very smart but kinda simple 12 years old child .
Spoilers end here!

I like to mention that I really liked the way actor Thomas Turgoose plays the character of the 12 years old shaun, if that is mostly acting & not his real character that's very promising & we'll hear his name more in the future.

Last word is that I some how liked this movie even more than American History X & Crash which are already two of my all time favorites perhaps because it's not from hollywood, I highly recommend watching this superb social drama.

We Are All Blind!
We Are All Blind! magnify
Proxy...

It’s a few weeks that I can’t write, I believe it’s a mental block or something like that but I really feel the need to write this bitter event

Someone’s completely deliberate & premeditated actions has made another person blind & facially disfigured for the rest of her life & even one can argue that describing the situation like this is an understatement.

It seems that beside stupidity having a big mouth is one of the other characteristics of the offender in this case, here’s what he said at his trial: “I know what I did was wrong but my intentions were noble.”, “… I did this so she’d be mine & I could marry her.”, “If she hadn’t said that she has a fiancé I wouldn’t have done this…”

The court has ruled that the offender must be blinded by dropping acid in his eyes, people are so enthusiastic about this ruling that saying things like “this kind of punishments are inhuman.” is unpopular speech & hits deaf ears at the very least, well I'm not running for the presidency so in case you missed the news hear it loud & clear, Barbarism can NOT undo barbarism.

There’s a picture of the victim at the top of this post, what did you think the first time that you saw the victim’s picture? Excuse my rudeness but did you think at all or instantly based on the heinousness of the crime you decided that the offender must be dealt with harshly?? Do you honestly believe this tragedy is a one man mistake & we as a society have got nothing to do with it? For the last 1400 years we’ve been made to think that women are our “farm” so we treat’em as objects & an object has no say, so when she says NO, he hears YES! When she says that she has a fiancé( to get rid of the offender ), he thinks she’s mine, she’s gotta be mine, if I can’t have her I won’t let anyone else to have her.

And like always we use allllllllllllllllllllll the wisdom we have to deal with this problem! “Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot…” Well…It’s nice to see that with allllllllllllllllllll their differences Judaism, Christianity & Islam agree on one thing, therefore I suggest we put all of the leaders of the fundamentalist factions of those religions together in one room & just watch! Hopefully from the “actions” driven by their “wisdom” we will all learn that as Gandhi said “An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.”

The Senate

In 2006 Democrats picked up 6 seats(Since Sen. Lieberman & Sen. Sanders caucus with Democrats I count’em as Democrats) to gain control of the Senate with 51 seats, this year they are expected to pick up another 6 to 10 seats, If they pick up 9 seats or more they’ll have 60 votes which is necessary for cloture in the U.S Senate which seems unlikely, also Democrats may boot Sen. Lieberman as a punishment for his support for McCain when their majority gets expended.

The House of Representatives

Democrats picked up 31 seats in 2006 & also gained control of the house, they are expected to unseat another 24 to 33 Republicans this time too!

My Forecast

The number of seats Democrats will gain in both houses could depend on exit polls on the Presidential Election, which will be available from around 5 p.m. ET(01:30 a.m. Tehran). At 7 p.m. ET(03:30 a.m. Tehran) polls will be closed in I think 6 states, 3 of’em will indicate what to expect overall, Virginia, Indiana & Georgia.

If Obama wins Virginia with around 5 points difference as expected, not just he’ll be the next U.S president for 99% but also it means that Democrats will gain seats in the congress as expected, I’d say 7 or at most 8 seats in the Senate & 30(or 1 or 2 less) in the House.

If Virginia turns up to be too close to call, not just it would mean that things could end up in court like 2000, it also means Democratic gains in the congress would be more limited than thought, with more Democrats & Republicans turning up to vote in the other states which polls are still open.

Indiana & Georgia are traditionally expected to vote Republican, polls there show McCain ahead a few points, so if Obama wins in both or any of those states not just it means that he’s going to have a landslide victory but it also means that Republican congressmen are in deep shit. With Democrats psyched up to vote & Republicans demoralized, gains of 10 & 33 seats would be a walk in the park! Even if Obama looses Georgia & Indiana but wins Virginia with a good margin I’d still look at it as a sign of a very long night for the Republicans.

When The Smartest Asses Are In Charge Of Censorship...

When www.dailykos.com got blocked in Iran I had a huge laugh because it was obvious it wasn't blocked because of its contains, after all it's a liberal blog which supports Democrats in the United States & it's in English so it couldn't be "A danger to Iran's national security", the reason was obvious, part of its address contains the word "kos" which in Persian means "Pussy" so the idiots who chose to block it thought that site could be "A danger to the morals of Iranian youth" not knowing that the "kos" in the "dailykos" is the nickname of the guy who founded that blog! "Kos" stands for Markos, Markos Moulitsas!

Today I found out that www.michaelmoore.com is blocked too!well this one is even more fantastic!!! One Of the most Anti Bush, Anti War, Anti U.S Capitalism guys alive & guess what? The first time that I saw Fahrenheit 911 was in an Iranian cinema!! And Bowling for Columbine have been aired on Iranian TV on more than one occasion, followed by some Iranian movie critics praising the creator!! What?! Do the censors find Mike too sexy? Or have they mistaken him with someone else, let's say Demi Moore?!

Since our censors are such no brainer idiots, I suggest to them that the cheese brand "Kiri" be removed from stores in Tehran's rich neighbourhoods, after all in Persian "Kiri" means "Phallic" or in more familiar words "related to penis".

U.S Elections: Is The Race Really Over?
U.S Elections: Is The Race Really Over? magnify
Proxy

So, in a few days it’s the election day & polls show Obama will certainly win but is it really over for John McCain? Usually this close to the election the only thing which can derail the front runner is himself! A bad joke, a not so smart remark on a sensitive subject or anything that can be misinterpreted by the press & people can turn the table in a blink of an eye & since November 4th is so close now such mistakes could be really fatal. with Youtube & all the gadgets available nowadays nothing can go unnoticed, former Sen. George Allen & Sen. John Kerry can testify to this! ;)

That aside Obama could have another problem, The Bradley Effect! In U.S elections it’s not so uncommon that when a non-white person runs against a white guy & he is ahead in the polls the election result end up the other way & the white guy win! Since everybody loves conspiracy theories let me make this clear that it’s not because of a conspiracy by powerful white men who don’t want a man of a different race to win, actually it’s much more interesting than that! When a non-white candidate runs against a white one, in the polls some of the people say that they’ll vote for him so they look non-racist, non-prejudice & fair, but when they go to the ballot they vote for the white guy, simply nothing new just some good old hypocrisy!

Last word is that before the 2000 U.S presidential election when exit polls showed a clear winner, the loosing candidate called him & congratulated him & it was over, but what happened back then in Palm Beach Florida as a result of those infamous butterfly ballots changed everything! A few weeks ago I read somewhere that 5000, yes! Read again please! FIVE THOUSAND lawyers are ready across America to file petitions on behalf of the Obama campaign if anything goes wrong anywhere! And it’s really naive to think that the McCain campaign do not have their rottweilers ready! November 4th can be the end of this election or just the grand opening of a huge circus.
