Things are starting to spice up again at Bluegrass Moon! Our babymoon is over as Phoenix is now almost 7 months old. She isn't sleeping through the night anymore but her colic days appear to be behind us. Whew that was tiresome to experience. Anyway, the website is currently undergoing an overhaul and redesign by a VERY talented webartist. And I will post a more detailed update in the next couple days about what to expect in the near future. Good things are happening! And better things are on the horizon! :)

My rendition of "Maternal Earth"
My rendition of "Maternal Earth" magnify
I am starting to enjoy working on my custom list!  I have been working with some really interesting requests and I am enjoying the challenge.  Fortunately, the mamas I am working with these days are so patient and humble, yet imaginative and inspiring.  I feel like the last several orders I have completed, I have ended up making a close friend as well.  It is more rewarding than your normal consumer-wahm relationship because I am giving them a very intimate part of me and I am getting to know them on such a personal level.  Now that my life is finally slowing down, these customs have been a blessing in disguise.  Don't get the wrong message here though, I am still closing my custom order list once it's completed, but I am really and truly LOVING the mamas that I am working with.  Some good people they are!  The list is starting to finally get shorter and it feels good!

The picture here is something I did for the next Lilypad Landing stocking.  The theme is "Of the Earth" and this is my rendition of "Maternal Earth".  I did not like this theme at all in the beginning....I felt confined to working with JUST organic materials....but then the theme was broadened to include earthy influences and the ideas just came pouring out of me.  Originally this mama had roots to resemble a tree embedded in the Earth, but I got the inspiration to include a Lotus from a tattoo I recently saw.  I was really worried that integrating the lotus into the picture wouldn't turn out as neat as I envisioned it, but I am really pleased with the final result.  And the tree-mama has been sketched out for a future stocking!  ;)

We are postponing our Anniversary stocking to September 21st.  Once I get a few more details finalized with the guest WAHM's I will make a more official announement.  I can't believe how fast August has flown by!

Stocking postponed until Wednesday the 16th....
**I apologize for any confusion but we have had to postpone our stocking until Wednesday the 16th.  Our littlest daughter needs to see her doctor for a follow-up visit from her surgery so I will not be available on Tuesday to stock.  ALL previews will be up by Tuesday evening and will be available for purchase on Wednesday. I apologize again for any confusion and thank you for your patience!**

Caira is finally getting her cast off!  This is GREAT news because she wont be falling down quite as much....but she will have to relearn her steps and how to walk since her leg will be in a 'normal' position again.  She fell last week and got a black eye from hitting the window sill....and days later fell again only to need a couple stitches in her forhead...so we are MORE THAN READY to get this cast off and watch her walk like a normal child.  It is amazing how far medicine has come.  100 years ago she would have been considered crippled and probably never have walked...but today they were able to correct her clubfoot with a few castings and a very minor surgery and her foot looks totally normal.  It's amazing...and it's a miracle.  Her first steps are alot more to us than just those precious first steps!!!  :)  She is such a brave and determined little girl!!!

Summer is finally winding down and for me, that always means my productivity increases!  My oldest kiddos head back to school next week which will bring an additional 2-3 hours of worktime on most days.  I am so excited to finally be making progress on my customs list and hope to have it mostly completed by the start of fall! :)

We are doing a very small stocking on Tuesday the 15th...which will host several bags.  And then we are gearing up for our anniversary stocking on September 6th which will be very exciting!  Our anniversary stocking will feature several collaborations that will be a definate fun time for all!  Morwenna from Mosaic Moon will be joining me on another knitting bag/wool yarn collaboration.  And Whitney from Naturally Luxe (formally Monkey Sudz) will be filling up one of our new bag patterns as well.  These are just a couple previews that will definately make anyone smile.  I plan to give more details soon-but Im getting so excited!  It's almost been one year since Bluegrass Moon held their first stocking-and what a great year!  I believe I have the best customers in the world!!!

Customs on the move....
Customs on the move.... magnify
I just finished this bag for a custom order.  I am starting to feel better and therefore I'm starting to really move on down the custom order list.  It feels good to get these behind me so I can finally start exploring some of the creative ideas I have had for maternal art.  I will not be taking anymore custom orders after this and will operate as an instock store only.  In addition to stocking at Lilypad Landing, I plan to stock at least once a month on Hyena Cart.  So here is to accomplishing many more stellar custom orders....thankfully the customers I have worked with so far have been really inspiring and sweet!Image
