Yesterday, with a vote of 249-175, the House passed the Hate Crimes bill. It will now move on to the Senate. If it passes the Senate, we know that President Obama will sign it into law.

Some of our recent guests on Point of View have wondered if this law could restrict you from simply sharing your faith with a homosexual. These guests also suggest that a pastor could be arrested and jailed for simply reading passages of scripture that a protected group found offensive.

Protect Religious Freedom: Oppose Hate Crimes Legislation

Representative Artur Davis admitted that this legislation could be used to arrest pastors for hate crimes and the Left has vigorously opposed any amendments that would limit the law being used against people of faith.

Our last chance to stop this assault on the Christian faith is to bombard the Senate with calls and emails pressuring them to oppose this dangerous legislation. Please take a moment right now to call both of your Senators or click here to use our simple online system to send them both an email.

Let me also encourage you to forward this email to your friends and family and ask them to contact their Senators as well.

Entry for March 20, 2009
President Obama said it. He wants to hear from you.

But he's given you a deadline: You've got two weeks to voice your concerns - to speak out for America's pro-life medical professionals ... and their moral conscience - before it's too late.

Right now, the Department of Health and Human Services is accepting public comment on this very critical issue - but the deadline is quickly approaching.

Stand for life and speak to the President on this serious issue! Add your name to our online PETITION TO PROTECT PRO-LIFE DOCTORS now!

Here's some background....

The Conscience Clause was implemented by former President George W. Bush to give physicians and nurses the choice to act according to their moral conscience - to not participate in abortion procedures if it conflicts with their personal convictions.

Now, President Obama wants to change that. He's angling to remove Conscience Clause protection for healthcare providers and force them into performing abortion procedures.

In other words, if you've got strong moral convictions - or pro-life Christian views - President Obama says they don't matter.

I'm urging every committed, pro-life member of the ACLJ to raise the volume on this critical issue. The President says he wants to hear from you ... so add your name to the online PETITION TO PROTECT PRO-LIFE DOCTORS now and speak out for life!

I cannot stress this strongly enough - this move by President Obama to remove Conscience Clause protection is nothing more than a ''piecemeal application'' of the deadly Freedom of Choice Act.

The Obama Administration is on the march against pro-life America. And they're moving fast. Piece by piece, one issue at a time, they're dismantling every advance for life that was made under the previous Administration.

So we can't wait. We must be vigilant and forceful on behalf of life. And we must let the President know exactly where we stand on this issue.

Voice your concerns NOW. Tell President Obama to respect the conscience rights of pro-life medical professionals by adding your name to our PETITION TO PROTECT PRO-LIFE DOCTORS immediately.

A surprising number of our elected officials are talking about the need to bring back the Fairness Doctrine. While this has been a concern of conservative and Christian broadcasters for some time, it is quickly becoming a serious threat.

Several liberal senators and congressmen have begun to openly call for the return of the Fairness Doctrine or something like it. There are even signals coming from the Obama administration that he is considering it as well.

Click here to hear audio from Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) as well as Senator Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) calling for the return of the Fairness Doctrine or something like it. Click here to send an email to both of your U.S. senators and your congressman asking them to oppose the Fairness Doctrine.

Defend Religious Liberty Button
Conservative Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) says that Christian broadcasters will not be immune from the effects of this type of legislation. He told the Culture & Media Institute,

“Religious messages are, often times, inherently political. Even when they are not, they could be considered controversial, and under the Fairness Doctrine as it once existed, controversial issues of public importance must be presented in an equitable and balanced manner.”

This legislation would likely challenge broadcasters on more than just content about abortion, homosexuality and other such subjects. In our politically correct world, simply saying that Jesus is the only way to heaven could create problems for Christian broadcasters.

Imagine a Christian radio or television station being forced to provide airtime (at their own expense) to Muslim clerics or leaders of other religious groups to refute Christian claims.

Christians have been systematically challenged in virtually every public venue and in many cases had their freedom to share or express their faith taken from them. This would be a huge step toward totally silencing Christians in our society.

Please take a moment right now to protect your religious freedoms by sending an email to both of your senators and your congressman asking them to oppose the Fairness Doctrine. You can send it to all four at the same time by clicking this link. Could I also ask that you forward this email to your friends and family and encourage them to sign the petition as well?

We need to create a groundswell of opposition against this dangerous attack on our freedom before it can gain any more traction. Please take a moment right now to sign the petition and ask your friends and family to do the same!

Sincerely in Christ,

The "stimulus" bill is nearing a vote in the senate and after a hard push from the White House. Even now the president is admitting that it is a spending bill even though he won't admit that it is filled with pork.

Here are a few facts. First, this bill is the single largest expenditure our country has ever made. Over $800 billion will be spent. When you factor in the interest that will be paid it will cost our country over $1 trillion! This is real money that will have to be paid through taxes on you, me, our children and grandchildren.

Second, this bill has NO chance of turning around our economy. We have documented this with our many recent guests on Point of View.

Third, bill is full of liberal pork and political payback. House Republican Leader John Boehner recently said: "the Democrats' bill makes groups like ACORN eligible for a $4.19 billion pot of money for 'neighborhood stabilization activities.'"

Let me urge you to call both of your senators right now to let them know exactly what you think about this bill - - then encourage at least ten of your friends to do the same thing. Time is running out so please stop and call right now. The number to reach your senators is (202) 224-3121. If you have trouble getting through you can send an email through the senate website at www.senate.gov.

If you have any doubts about how much pork is in this bill, let me share just a few of the items included:

  • $79 billion to bail out states who have overspent
  • $30 billion for COBRA extensions
  • $20 billion for food stamps
  • $89 billion for Medicare
  • $1.7 billion for the National Park System
  • $55 million for the Historic Preservation Fund
  • $7.6 billion for "rural community advancement programs"

The list goes on and on with dozens of items receiving billions of dollars that will do nothing to "stimulate" the economy. In fact, many of them will have the opposite effect.

Please call your senators now before this comes up for a vote and encourage at least ten of your friends to do so as well.

Thank you for your willingness to get involved and make a difference for the future of our country.
