The Christmas season is slowly coming to the end. The lights, mistletoe, and decorations are slowly coming down. The last pages of your calendar and day planners are coming to an end. The local liquor stores are stocking up for biggest worldwide holiday party of the season. Yep, you guessed it, New Year’s Eve, so it’s not just you singing “Auld Lang Syne” off-key at midnight, it’s the entire universe.

Here is the new version:

Auld Lang Syne - Lyrics

As updated for the new Millennium by:
Annette Rios, Edie Zuvanich,
Jaime Cabrera & Steve Hostak.

Should old acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne!

The new year brings us hope for peace,
A new day for mankind,
Where we can all live hand in hand
And leave all hate behind.

For auld lang syne, my dear.
For auld lang syne.
We'll take a cup of kindness yet
For auld lang syne.

When dreams they seem so far away,
Your soul can feel so low.
But love is never far away;
Your heart won't be alone.

Let's make a world where people care,
A world that knows no fear,
Where we can open up our hearts
And hold each other dear.

Our children grow, they need to know
The Future's theirs to hold.
If we can teach them how to love
Then the world can carry on.

For auld lang syne, my dear.
For auld lang syne.
We'll take a cup of kindness yet
For auld lang syne.

Here is the old version:

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days of auld lang syne?
And days of auld lang syne, my dear,
And days of auld lang syne.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days of auld lang syne?

We twa hae run aboot the braes
And pu'd the gowans fine.
We've wandered mony a weary foot,
Sin' auld lang syne.
Sin' auld lang syne, my dear,
Sin' auld lang syne,
We've wandered mony a weary foot,
Sin' auld ang syne.

We twa hae sported i' the burn,
From morning sun till dine,
But seas between us braid hae roared
Sin' auld lang syne.

Sin' auld lang syne, my dear,
Sin' auld lang syne.
But seas between us braid hae roared
Sin' auld lang syne.

And ther's a hand, my trusty friend,
And gie's a hand o' thine;
We'll tak' a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.
For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak' a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne

It’s the one holiday where the traditional gift is a clean slate. All the drama, hassle, and discord you’ve accumulated over the past 12 months are thought of as “so last year.” You’ll no longer be the old you; you’ll emerged as new and improved you. It’s a time to reflect on the changes we want/need to make and the determination to follow through on those changes. So, New Year Resolutions will be made, challenged, resolved, and for some, okay most, broken or unaccomplished.

Here are the 10 most popular New Year Resolutions:

· Spend More Time with Family & Friends

· Fit in Fitness

· Tame the Bulge

· Quit Smoking

· Enjoy Life More

· Quit Drinking

· Get Out of Debt

· Learn Something New

· Help Others

· Get Organized

For those that can’t keep the above resolutions, I came across these that are more attainable that you might want to try:

· I want to gain weight, put on at least 30 pounds

· Stop exercising, it’s a waste of time

· Procrastinate more

· Drink and drink some more

· Start being superstitious

· Spend more time at work

· Stop bringing lunch from home and start eating out more

· Take up a new habit, maybe smoking!

If you’re really interested in New Year Resolutions and need help to achieve them you might consider buying “How to Make New Year's Resolutions That Work!” by Gary Ryan Blair. You can access the website here- http://www.goalsguy.com/Events/n_resolutions.html

What Christmas is all about

A Charlie Brown's Christmas is one of my favorite animated Christmas shows. I found this clip from the show and thought I would share it with all of you. I will also post the full version link at the end of this blog.

LINUS AS HE RECITES LUKE 2:8-14
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were so afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Nation to Honor Victims of 9/11 with Freedom Walks Across America
Nation to Honor Victims of 9/11 with Freedom Walks Across America

Kansas City, Mo, Aug. 4, 2006--Thousands of Americans across the country will be commemorating the fifth anniversary of the tragedy of 9/11 in Freedom Walks across America.

The walks, sponsored by the Department of Defenses America Supports You program, honors those who lost their lives on 9/11, as well as pays tribute to the nations military veterans --past and present. This years walk, which DoD officials hope to become an annual tradition, is an outgrowth of last years Freedom Walk in Washington D.C., that drew more than 15,000 walkers, including family members of the 9-11 victims, members of Congress, administration officials, federal and corporate workers and civic organizations. Every year since the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, DoD has organized a commemoration event.

In Kansas City at the VFW National Headquarters, employees will be donning red, white and blue patriotic wear, as well as hosting a short commemoration ceremony in front of the veteran organizations Citizen-Soldier statute on the corner of Broadway and Linwood. The event will culminate with an employee walk and distribution of support the troops flag posters.

VFW posts around the nation also are planning on hosting freedom walks and special events for the citizens in their local communities. To Plan a Freedom Walk or learn how to become involved, visit American Supports You website. To find an event in your area, click here. To register an event or find out how to host one, click here.

America Supports You is an ongoing nationwide program launched by DoD to recognize citizens support for the country's military men and women and their families at home and abroad. Since its launch in November 2004, the program has welcomed more than 225 grassroots organizations and 25 corporations to its team. Many "America Supports You" team members support the troops through letter writing, assembling care packages, helping the wounded when they return home, assisting military families or sending an e-mail or kind gesture.

Time has just flown by...

Hey everyone,

Just a little note to say that I'm sorry that I haven't been here.

Life has just been amazingly busy!! Since April we have spent time in Kentucky hiking the caves, camping, fishing on our new boat, visiting family and friends in Minnesota and Florida, Family Reunions, Landscaping, remodeling, construction of a new pole building, garage sale, getting kids ready to start back to school, buying more college books, and of course starting our fall cleaning getting ready for that cold.. wet.. white stuff to start falling from the sky... sighs... wow.. it may not seem much as I re-read this, but it takes up more time than I realized... OHHhh and having some of my nephews and niece come and live with us for a while...

Anyways... hope all is going well with everyone.. missing some of you... wondering how your lives are going or if they have stayed pretty much the same? Drop a line when you get a chance and hopefully I can get back to you sooner than I have here lately... Take care...

Hugs,

Tracy (Sweet tas)
