THE AWDF CHAMPIONSHIPS ARE UNDERWAY AND WE WISH ALL THE COMPETITORS THE BEST OF LUCK... WHAT A WEEK-END THIS WILL BE.

Summer is coming upon us very quickly and it is time to get your first aid kit up to date or if you don't have one then here are a few ideas to help you make your own.

A well-stocked first aid kit for dogs includes:
Roll cotton
Some cotton balls
Gauze pads
Gauze tape
Hydrogen peroxide (check the expiration date)
Hydrocortisone ointment
Scissors
Eyewash
Silver nitrate
Tweezers
Oral syringes
Pediolyte® or other balanced electrolyte fluid
Baby food – meat flavors work best
Large towel
Exam gloves
1 inch white tape (in addition to gauze tape)
Rolls of elastic wrap
Emergency ice pack
Thermometer (both oral and rectal thermometers can be used rectally)

GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY TRAINING
GET OUT THERE AND

CREATE SOME MEMORIES

NEXT COMES THE COTTON BALL REDEDY

VALENTINES DAY TRAINING
HOSTED BY HAUPSTADT
MADISON, WISCONSIN

We got there early in the morning. Left the house at around 5:45 am. Roads were good and it was interstate most of the way. We were among the first to arrive. Mary was there getting set up and since we had been members at one time we stepped right in and helped out. John shoveled the steps into the Stock Pavillion and I helped out with putting up signs and placing pooper scoopers by the door.

For all the dog lovers who had to do the love N roses thingy - kinda feel sorry you missed out on a great training day. Plenty of helpers and a whole lot of dogs.

I got to meet some new people and see a whole lot of folks that I have not been able to see for "ages".

Our club, Machtig Strom is hosting the Mid Central Region Training Day this Sunday the 22nd of February from 10 am till 5 pm
at
Quad City Dog Center
2390 West Lake Blvd
Davenport, Iowa.
10 am till 5 pm.

Hope you can make it... Lunch will be served.
Those outside our region are welcome to attend also.
Should be a good time.

Blade just turned 2 years old on Nov 27 and on Nov 28 we took him to Madison to have his hips OFA'd. Waiting for the results to come back but by the looks of the xrays his hips look very tight with no problems that are visible.

Varka Girl was xrayed too and got the same report on her. Looks good. She didn't make her Schutzhund 1 as she would not leave my side to do the dumbbell work... dang it all - she passed her tracking and did a nice 89 in protection with the judge telling me I lost all her points for her in the protection work. Must be consistant with commands and use only one language... if I say plautz then I must say sitz... NOT sit... little things like that. He even said she would have run the blind and when she didn't it was due to my obedience with her --- he didn't know we had only practiced the blinds "one" time "ever".... Had bad luck before the trial as when we would go to training the key to the building would not be able to be found... not once but several times... making it impossible for the hurdle - wall & blind work to be practiced...

Just the breaks I guess.... Bad Luck with the key

Our Schutzhund club, MSSV, put in for the 2009 USA Nationals and got the bid. We are busy at work lining things up already. We have the local Chamber envolved and they are helping us get the airlines to allow the larger crates for this event.

There will be lots to do as there is a river boat within walking distance of the Statium, the Mississippi River is conventiently located also (smiles). There is Wonderful walking paths along the Mississippi for the dogs and a few excellent German Restaurants close by with one that allows dogs to sit in the pavillion.

Hope the weather holds tight for us as it has in the past. We are just now getting snow on the ground and it is December.

Will hope to meet some of you at this event... I will be the old gal of the club - heehee.

I just LOVE it !!!

AIN'T IT GREAT ???
