I'm interested in people and places, travel, writing, music, and lots of other things!
I know I haven't been around much, but I wish each and every one of you a wonderful Christmas with friends and family.
Here's my sweet Mason, blowing you a kiss....

Yesterday I did some yard work, getting rid of some dead vines and a damaged arbor. While doing that I found that I had a lovely growth of bittersweet. Problem was, it was behind the blackberry patch! Determined to gather some (and take a picture) I braved the briars and did both.
Isn't it pretty?

I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. Well, I guess you can't, since it was just freakin' awsome in person!
As I jumped in the car to head to work this morning, this was what I saw. I immediately grabbed my camera to capture it. I've never seen rays of sunlight so defined -- they made me think of "rays of hope".
A couple of days ago I had to drive over to Harlan, Kentucky. Some of you probably remember a trip I took over that way a few months ago when I drove over Black Mountain. Harlan is pretty far from my office (about 80 miles) but I always enjoy the drive over that way because the mountains are ever changing and beautiful to me. Despite overcast skies and some rain, this was a lovely drive. It’s far enough south that the trees were just past peak in color, still offering some gorgeous views.
On my way down there, I spotted this cabin just off the highway. Doesn’t it just shout “Picturesque!” On the way back I pulled off the road and jumped out to capture an image of this charming scene.
Was it ever inhabited by those strong mountain types you hear about? No, I don’t think so. I think it’s probably a re-constructed cabin transported from somewhere for the owners of this property to enjoy.
For me, its origin and authenticity are irrelevant. It served its purpose on a moisture-laden fall day in southeast Kentucky by presenting an appealing sight for my pleasure.
