The innermost thoughts of a father, husband, tubaplayer, fishkeeper and all-around nut job.
I know that it has been awhile...I will blog soon. Topics to blog on:
Hope y'all can wait a day or two. PLEASE leave a comment...I just want one...
My family and I were in Atlanta, GA this weekend for my cousin Megan's wedding. The wedding was very nice, the hotel was lack-luster, and the drive was fine...until the way home.
I was just south of Jellico, TN going up one of the big-ol' hills that made this area famous. I was passing a truck on his left when he started coming over. I honked, sure that he would hear me. Actually, he proceeded to run me off of the road. I barely kept one wheel on the road; had I not, I would not be typing this, but would be in a morge in northern TN.
Anywhere else along that strip of highway and I would have been rolling down the mountain. It makes me mad just thinking about it.
On a high note, we went to see the Georgia Aquarium on Saturday. Holy Crap, it is awesome!
So I noticed that my hit counts rose drastically this weekend...please feel free to comment on anything (there are little buttons under the text of the blog that you can click on). I would love to know if real people actually read this.
This weekend was fun. I got a couple of new fish. I added 6 Marble Hatchetfish to my 38 gallon Characin tank. I also noticed an abundance of itty-bitty snails in the same tank. So I raised their bet and added a Clown Loach (I named him Krusty)
. There are no longer snails in that tank.
I also added two full-grown female Gold Gouramis to my 30 gallon extra-high Angelfish tank. They are good looking fish. A guy in my neigborhood is changing up his tank and gave them to me.
The highlight of my day was scoring a free 55 gallon tank with stand, hood and lights! I emailed a lady that had been listing it on Craigslist.com and offered her some CDs in exchange for the tank. Since I used to own a DJ company, I have an abundance of unused music. She bit and now I have a beautiful All-Glass brand tank and stand.
On Sunday my inlaws came over...joy. I refrain to comment in the off-chance that they find this BLOG. My mother-in-law like to play Yahoo! Games, so you never know. Email me for specifics if you like to hear about other people suffering.
My sister-in-law and brother are going to have little Alyssa Grace by C-section tomorrow. Alyssa is breach and has a big head, so they feel that this is the best course of action. This will be my 3rd neice, but the first one on my side of the family. Alyssa will also be the first female born to my mother's side of the family in 42 years!
Again, comment away; I would love to hear from you!
IT WAS ONLY $40! Yeah!
Nothing was wrong with it. What a glorious day. In related news, the Buick now runs like a champ. $2000 for the car and $2600 to get it running well.
I also want to address an addiction that I have: message boards. I am totally a slave to the post button. I try to keep from posting too much, but I just can't do it. Right now, I have 6 boards that I check religiously; most of them are aquarium/Betta related. I think that I am going to lose my job...maybe I should write a post about it.
Okay, so, cardinal rule of buying used cars: always let the mechanic look at the car BEFORE buying it. We knew that we should have, but, for some reason we did not do it. Now, the Buick needs:
Total damage: $1,500. I guess that it is not too bad because the car was underpriced. But, it still pisses me off. It is at the garage getting 1-3 done right now, number 5 happens tomorrow morning at Tuffy and number 4 will happen whenever the tires get to Sam's Club.
HAPPIER NEWS!
I will be getting my free pair from Betta Pals soon. In addition, I purchased a BEAUTIFUL male OHM COPPER/BLACK (Over 180 degree caudal fin Betta that is primarily black with copper accents.) His name is Samurai and he, too, is from the BettySplendens.com stock. Victoria added many fish this week and they were all stunning. I guess that I am just drawn towards the black betta with mettalic accents.
