My Crazy World - living with auto-immune disease Full Post View | List View

This is a 360 view of my life and interests and battles with auto-immune disease.

Entry for December 26, 2007

I did it!!! Christmas Eve dinner was wonderful and everyone had a great time. I had to send some food home with everyone, but I still have a lot of food left. I definitely could have fed at least 10 more people. Mom, Iris, Dennis, Larry and me ate first. Rich, Danessa, Jeremy, and Carter were delayed by a traffic accident on our remote highway. Since it was an injury accident no one was allowed through until the state police investigated. I kept the food warm until they were able to get through. We all sat at the table and chatted while they ate their dinner.

Then it was time for presents. Larry and I gave Carter an electronic shooting gallery. He had a lot of fun playing with that. His big brother and daddy were having a lot of fun with it too. Of course Sasha got an Xmas stocking full of dog toys, treats, and chews.

Mom choked up a bit while she was saying 'grace'. Iris and I both noticed it. This is Mom's first Christmas without Dad so it is a rough time for her. Iris has Mom over at her house today watching movies.

This truly has been a wonderful Christmas for me. When it was time for everyone to go home, there were hugs for everyone. It's the first time Danessa and I have ever hugged! I am so thankful that the depression eased up. I will never try to wean myself off of anti-depressants again. I have learned my lesson.

I'm still feeling crappy, but I think the 'bug' is mostly over. I think the battle with the infection is causing my MS and Fibromyalgia to flare. I have overwhelming fatigue, headaches, joint and nerve pains. I also feel bad because I have been neglecting my blogs, but I just don't have much stamina right now.

I hope everyone is geared up for a wonderful holiday season. I'm still looking forward to Christmas Eve dinner. I'll start my prep work on the 22nd. I don't care how crappy I feel, I'm going to have a great dinner!

Thanks to all my friends for hanging in there while I'm trying to recover from this recent "bug" and subsequent auto-immune problems.

Have a wonderful week!

Thank You to all of my 360 Friends

After I finished my "Christmas Resolution" blog, I went to my main page and saw several strange comments with "Congrats". I guess I should check my e-mail more often, because I was totally clueless about being selected for blog of the week. Thank you all so much for your support. Although I blog on 3 different forums, 360 is still my favorite because of the awesome people here.

Luvz & Hugz for all!

Christmas Resolution
Christmas Resolution magnify

I finally decided to invite the whole family over for Christmas Eve dinner. Which means that I will be serving dinner for as few as 8 or as many as 12 people. I've decided on a 15 lb rib roast and a 10 lb ham. For sides, I will fix my 'famous' streuseled sweet potato casserole, mixed green salad, and herb-seasoned green beans. With fresh baked dinner rolls, this should be more than enough to feed the masses. Maybe I'll get someone else to bring dessert.

I've also resolved to put Danessa in her place if she starts one of her rants about Californians. It's time to bite back and my teeth are sharpened. I have to take a more assertive stance instead of just avoiding social situations that include Rich's "baby mama"... (wish me luck with that one)

Power's UP!!!
Power's UP!!! magnify

Let there be Light!!!
...and television, computers, microwaves, etc.

We have power!!! At least for the time being. It's been a long couple of days... I was unable to access the internet all day yesterday, then at 6:30 PM the power went out. It came back on about 2:46 AM, but went out again at 8:30 AM today. The telephone lines are also down... not sure when that will be fixed. At least the power came back up this afternoon. The Coos Bay area is under a flood watch until 4:00 PM tomorrow, so it looks like there will be plenty more rain. Our rain gauge had accumulated 5 inches since the storm started Saturday evening.

The power outages sure have slown down my candy making. I'll have to work hard to get caught up tomorrow. I've got to get the stuff in the mail soon.

I'm still stressing over Christmas. I'm still hemming and hawing over inviting Richard and Danessa and their brood. Maybe I'll just spread some Christmas cheer and invite the whole clan over. What's one day out of 365? Afterall, they may have other plans, and at least I extended the invitation.

Once the 'invites' are settled, then I have to worry about a menu. A prime rib to feed 12 big eaters will cost a fortune (and I refuse to cook it to death)... so I was thinking of fixing a ham. Oops... Dennis (Iris' hubby) is "allergic" to pork. Apparently someone told him that ham is pork. I don't think he has figured out the bacon thing though. I really hate 'doing' turkey for Christmas, but it may be the only way to appease everyone. I'm still leaning toward lasagna, but it just doesn't feel right for Christmas. Leg of lamb would be wonderful... but once again I will not ruin a wonderful cut of meat by cooking it beyond recognition. ARGHHHH!!!! So many decisions. Maybe I should just stick to deviled eggs and celery sticks with peanut butter.
