Dr. Rusty Shackleford, the blogger behind My Pet Jawa, laid into Tom DeLay when the bogus indictment was issued and called for DeLay's resignation (for some reason I cannot trackback to the post, scroll down to the post). Since then, it has become obvious to those not fitted with partisan blinders that Ronnie Earle's indictments are little more than political attacks and have no merit in law. (I ask the reader's forgiveness, but 2 semesters of Business Law does not teach one the correct terminology to use in this case).
I email Rusty yesterday to ask him why he had not posted again on the DeLay issue now that it was obvious this was a political attack without legal merit. He responded with two reasons: (1)his day job, which I can totally relate, and (2) that he despises Tom DeLay.
I've got nothing personal against Rusty and like the Jawa Report, but I think he his letting his personal animosity keep him from doing the right thing. When someone has been wrongly accussed, how is it right to not come to that person's defense. Come on Rusty, do the right thing and retract your demand for Tom DeLay to resign.
