Satisfaction should be the standard primer for everyone interacting with a customer or partner. Period. Easy to understand and written for abroad audience, this book is powerful ammunition in making any argument that the customer comes first. This book opens the JD Power door to many great stories, including those about the fate of companies with great inventions but the inability to listen to the consumer. For example, Peugeot invented one of the first fuel injectors, only to lose market share because Americans wanted to step on the gas pedal before starting their cars.

You know you have a customer service problem if...

"You're spending more money to acquire new customers compared with competitors or compared with internal standards. Employee turnover is another indication."

If you have a problem....

"Consumers aren't expecting perfection, but they want problems to be dealt with in a forthright way."

One example used was of Lexus. When they were first starting, there were a few "minor problems with its cars." So, "they rushed a letter of apology to every customer, then had the dealerships pick up the vehicles and bring them in for repairs." Lexus turned a problem into a customer service advantage. This book is filled with such relevant examples, such as using problem resolution as an opportunity to make new customers into vocal advocates for a particular company.

PARIS...!!!
PARIS...!!! magnify
Where to even begin with Paris. She is the most OVER-RATED celeb in the 21st century, maybe ever. How about her 15 minutes, check that, seconds of fame are OVER. Yes she's beautiful for modeling, but man the way she acts/sings is unbearable.
Her album has bombed & at last check, through reading other music sites, approximately 75,000 copies have been sold. She can't sing to save her life. Mind you that there are those who probably downloaded/burned the entire album to cd which affects her sales. Further, this album is nothing more than a publicity stunt. The video for "Stars Are Blind" looks eerily similar to Chris Issak's "Wicked Game" with the beach scenery and the use of the black & white background.
Second, her acting skills need plenty of work. Her reality tv show Simple Life was horrible. As a side point, when did it become cool to bring Tinkerbell, her pet, to work?!
Third, she's a racist. Not many people realize this, but she used, and probably still uses, the N-word in front of African-American people. Here's a white girl using a racial slur against African-Americans.
Could go on about Ms. Hilton, but there are too many things to list.

Ultimate Winner
Ultimate Winner:
A man who wins is one who walks with time, who accepts change gracefully and turn things in his favour.
A man with determination , vision and strength. A man who always knows when to take risks while everybody else is holding back.
A man who creates history and leaves a landmark for others is one who knows that nothing is unconquerable in this world. For him, every path has a goal and every goal has a path and no goal is unachievable.
A man who turns miseries into opportunity , who learns from mistakes , who has a deep faith in his ability and in God ,is the Ultimate Winner.

Kerala Politics
Kerala Politics magnify
This is regarding the new CPM led government which took up office in the state of Kerala. Though the scenario mentioned here is purely regional ,I believe the term 'politics' has the same meaning in the universe .Hence this blog.
Soon after romping home with the highest ever majority in the history, the CPM led LDF has started showing its true colours even before they assume the office. The one man army in the CPM, V S Achuthanandan whose contribution to the LDF victory is significant among all the other factors, has been sidelined in the party ,though he has been provided with the CM post . When all the state secretariat members have been asked to take up the ministerial berths, which is unprecedented in the case of CPM led governments, it is certain that V S needs no more enemies. Taking up all the important portfolios by these 'official' members of the party gives the hint on how the governing is going to be in the coming months. This proposed LDF government has already struck many similarities with the old UDF arrangement( I still can not consider it as a government) and just because of these interesting similarities if anybody wonders about the future actions of the government, they can not be blamed. The 98-42 majority, the dirty factionalism which has already came out in the streets, the jumbo cabinet of 19 ministers .Added to this, the picture of a hapless Chief Minister with the so called clean image. Are we seeing the replica of 2001?
As per things stand today, the entertainment industry ,especially the comedy programs in the TV channels which did a fabulous job in bringing down the UDF arrangement from the power, still has lot of opportunities ahead. No Keralite will be surprised if VS steps down in another 2-3 years, citing 'health reasons' !

Monsoons
Monsoons magnify

The rain is a mixed blessing.

It came when I first thought of going to the beaches. It has been years since I had been to the seaside, and I wanted to reconnect with that wise lady. But the rain, ever the precocious kid, came in a tantrum and irked her, and now, she would be in too much of a bad mood for a visit.

I did not care much for the rain. Look what you have done now! I admonished with frosty silence. The rain didn't care. She came in a mad frenzy through the nights and chilled me to the core. She even irked the wind, who in a furious swipe of hand tugged at the powerlines and cut the electricity.

" Not fair." I muttered. " Swipe her away. Why deny light to me?"

Another day. Another noon. A friend promised food, and more importantly, company. I left home at noon. After dessert from one place, we walked off to another place for the maincourse. Chicken, with Patthiri as side dish. We had food and talk, and was content.

Outside, like a stealthy kid, rain began her naughty dance. "Shall we walk in the rain? " my friend ventured. " Ofcourse." Said I, and we walked along as if we were enjoying a sunny evening walk. Three book stores later, we were drenched and happy, and certified lunatics by the TVM society.

Back home. As on cue, the rain stops. As suddenly as she has started. But I am not angry. The coolness of rain - much cooler than the tap water which I use for bathing - has lulled me, like the unexpected kiss of an errant child, it has softened me.

"Monsoon.." I whisper " Are you here? "

But the rain has tiptoed away.
