Even before I complete my 100 posts on 360, I have finally decided to bid adieu to this blog. Those who have been secretly thanking the almighty, be warned for the change is just about geography. : D
With all due respect, 360 failed me in many ways.
My blog will henceforth, be here . So, see you there!
And boy! does it feel good to have your own name on the addressbar . : )
6:15 a.m: Woke up to discover I slept on the couch in the living room.
8:00a.m: Read the paper. Interestingly, there was some news other than Bangalore's crumbling infrastructure and people constantly cribbing about it. I'm almost getting immune to it.
9:30a.m: Vijeta calls up to check on our plans of going for the rangashankara theater festival
10:00a.m: I decide to go to office.
10:30a.m: Having decided to go to office, I find myself still loitering around at home.
11:30 a.m In office.
11.31 a.m: Remind myself to get a life. : )
12:30 a.m: Vijeta calls up. Plan for the play cancelled as the play is house-full. Extremely irritated after hearing this. I call up Rangashankara and confirm this.
1:30p.m: After an hour of reading, find myself sleepy. Half-mind to go home and take a nap. Decide against it. Know it is a good day to work. Spruce myself for some more hours.
2:20p.m: Listen to this typically Indian wedding song and wish I was invited to one. The kind where there is lot of festivity, dancing and rejoicing. *sigh*
2:25p.m: Blog after a long time. Think about what to do in the evening. Just remembered few pending errands I have to run for mum.
2:26p.m: The cardamom tea in the new building is teh suck. I'm feeling sick now after having it. Ugh!
2:27p.m: Time to post !
Of the various weird things that I like to do, here's another one.
I love watching people's homes from the outside. When it gets dark, and the lights come on, as I walk on the street, I love to watch their little world from outside. It makes me wonder how their life is, so unlike mine, so different.
And, yea, I can pretty much make out nothing of it. Thankfully.
Of all the advantages that technology brings to our lives, it's the simple things that it lets me do that matter the most. It's about the best user experience that it can provide me with. I still remember how a few years ago, internet browsing was such a pain. In terms, of how , despite having volumes of information on the net, I wasn't able to access this information as fast I wanted it to be. It irritated me no end. It's because as a user I wanted more. More speed, more flexibility .
It makes me realize how making technology more advanced may be important to companies, but for the end -users it is more about simplicity and having options. About having the power to customize, the freedom to choose. It's about, as end users, how we like to have features to choose from , even though we may never use these features. It's about how much the "cooler" the product is. How sleeker the design is. How better the "look and feel" is.
And as someone in this field, I see this happening everyday. Where innovation is the keyword. But now, not so much from technology point of view. The focus now shifting to the customer. He is the king.
Goals have shifted to make things simpler, faster, more advanced. To give a rich user experience.
In the end , it's not about how many processors your chip can fit in. But how much easier it becomes for me to use the product without referring to the user manual.
