Our legacy in this here Seperated States of America is a unique one:

 - from slaves to "Free" slaves (aka ni**ers) with no civil rights.
 - from niggas to negros/blacks fighting for rights, with limitations.
 - from negros gaining some rights, but still lost, trying to fit into our capturers Democracy.
 - from negros learning how to survive in the system, lost to our ancestry and self.
 - from negros becoming conscious Afro-Americans, easing into African-Americanism.
 - from African-American to "Light-Skinned" and "Dark-Skinned".
 - from the the skins to I'm part Indian and Carribean, and more..
 - from all that to I'm Hip Hop and partially NEO-Soul

 Hell, what is that duality that everyone speaks and writes about? you have to know who you are FIRST, and be conscious and firm in that understand before you can embark or be a dual anything.

 look at our history, it's been kinda "Jaaaaaaaaaaanky"  we were brought over here and stripped of what? IDENTITY.

 and what have we been trying to define for a few hundred years, our IDENTITY.

 We have taken on the concepts of an AMERICAN identity which is solely based upon pride and a foolish sense of security because we have managed to stay a world power for a hot minute.

 we know about CAPITALISM, we don't fully understand it, but we know of it.
 we know of GREED, DECEPTION, MISTRUST and DECEIT and that is proliferated in every avenue of media you can think of..

 who are we?

 we are descendants of forced immigration, caught up in the hustle of a Euro-Mix of subtle Imperialism and cultural instability. the observation about other cultures learning the system and capitalizing on it, is right on point.. what do you notice about those other cultures....ethnicities?

 they started from a unified core, right? and not from the horrific history of slavery that had a sole purpose of keeping families apart to make a good slave.

 we always hear, "Black people need to Unify, learn to trust and help one another".. it's a big goal, that can be reached but we need to understand why we truly are the way we are as a group of people.

 we truly are the LOST people, but not A lost people.. we helped build this country along with other forced laborers and willing immigrants but we have yet to fully benefit from the knowledge and experience we have at our disposal.

 we still sing and dance, we are WONDERFUL entertainers and have claimed that as a BADGE of HONOR. "Fetch me a FOOL, I need entertainment!"

 we dominate in every aspect of "being" entertainment, we gave people the idea of "cross over" when our natural soulful gift of feeling a beat needed to be marketed to the masses.

 who owns the "entertainment"?

 he who understands the GAME.

 is it our destiny to learn the GAME and do the same to others, exploit, no I don't think so.. our ancesters were not perfect either, but there is a higher purpose.. and I believe it is to nuture the WORLD, to show everyone else how to live in a soulful and harmonious way..

 the more we fight to fit into this system, of hustling to be like those that dominate in the system, we will continue to be lost to the greater need to help others not to fall into the trappings of the system. interesting loop-de-loop huh?

 if there is a need to live in DUALITY, let's make an effort to learn what we are destined to become, learn who YOU ARE and move to live in SINGULARITY as whole within yourself..

It's interesting to note that the concept of DUALITY was brought to light in our struggle as a people here, but would you be hard-pressed to find many other cultures struggling with such an issue of trying to fit in?

Is this our legacy? We have to get it together.....
