Just a quick update... April 2008... Work is plodding along - my range proposal was cut from the capital improvement budget, but so was the Children's Museum expansion, Tasers are not yet approved (3 years), and I'm still #3 on the captain's list. There is a remote possibility of one additional captain being made this year (#2), so there is an extremely remote chance that a third could happen, but I'm already planning on having to retest next year.
Current economic issues may lead to the cancellation of my planned Canada vacation - the value of the dollar is falling, and gas prices rising. Have to make a decision in the next couple weeks, and notify Kathy and Shawn about their cabin.
Work related travel in the future: Washington DC in May for Police Week, and Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania in August for "Police Executive Development (BASIC)." May also be in Greensboro, NC in August/September for the OSSI User Group Conference - depends on the dates.

www.memorysuppliers.com ... Suppose you're looking to upgrade that desktop machine, running a speedy 1.1 G celeron, and need some PC-100 SDRAM. Where do you go? Well, naturally, CDW and TigerDirect come to mind, but allow me to introduce you to MemorySuppliers.
Same great products (I ordered Kensington) - same price as TigerDirect, cheaper than CDW, and - free shipping.
Looks like a great deal. I'm getting this memory so the desktop at home is compliant with World of Warcraft minimum specs, so watch closely for another post soon telling you how well the new memory works.

Just a news update --- I did NOT make captain. I am however, third on the list - so there is a remote possibility that in 2008 I may get a second gold bar.
Our esteemed former SWAT commander, sentenced to 4.5 years in prison for conspiracy to distribute cocaine had his sentence reduced - only three years to serve. And, yes, he's still drawing his full police retirement.
We're shopping hard for a new in-car video system - so send any tips on over.
As far as GimpyKnee - my geocaching existence - and the corresponding surgeries -- I'm fit, active, and getting around just fine.
Kathy - I'm already looking forward to returning to Canada for summer vacation - thanks again to you and Shawn for renting us the cabin!!!
Bye for now... be good, or don't be caught.
