Hi! I'm June from Ms. Motorcycle. Welcome to our blog...Stay tuned for all sorts of fun and interesting reading...
Today some of the ladies from Northwoods Cruisers headed out for the 8th Annual Mr. Soup Run. Angela planned and lead the group, thanks Angela! The weather was absolutely stunningly beautiful, the company was great and the soup was delicious! Angela, Lisa and Gina from Madison, Terry and Trina from Green Bay and I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. What the heck is the Mr. Soup Run you ask? It's a guy and his wife, they make soup in their home, open their home and yard to complete strangers and I'm sure some friends, mostly on motorcycles, and feed us brats, burgers, chips, soda, and SOUP! Four choices of awesome soup! Check out www.soupisgood.com.
This is just the beginning of a long, warm, wonderful summer on two wheels!
This past weekend in Sheboygan Falls we celebrated the holidays with the Annual Main Street Memories festivities which were to include a parade at 5PM. Well, Mother Nature had different plans. By 11 am it was snowing and getting heavier and heavier by the minute. Jessica rode her Ninja to my store and several kids showed up for their "Photo on a Motorcycle" because heck, they're kids, they think snow is cool. By 1 pm we were bringing in our little table full of promo goodies because everything was soaking wet. By 2 pm, the parade was canceled due to the forecast of sleet. At 3 pm the Crowning of Miss Snow Princess ceremony had to be held INSIDE my tiny little store because the weather outside was quite frightful.
After months of hard work and money from our personal pockets, it was quite a let-down knowing that our float wouldn't be seen. So we said, what the heck, let's go get our float and ride around town anyway! We did just that. Joined by our friends, our children, and Miss Snow Princess, the Northwoods Cruisers set out WITHOUT JACKETS (apparently someone decided that anyone who put on a jacket was a wuss) to make a great big impression on the folks of Sheboygan Falls.
We rode around downtown, dressed in our custom-made pink and red vests, singing our custom-written biker chick version of "Winter Wonderland", waving and cheering at everyone in our sight. Passers-by waved right back, cheered, honked, and yelled various things like, "You should win 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place!" and the ever popular, "Woo Hoo!"
At one point, I hopped off the float to take photos of all my crazy biker chick friends and Khris drove away without me because he thought I was Cookie getting off to go to her car and I was almost catching up until I dropped my cell phone in the snow which slowed me down but I kept running for blocks until I realized that I had lost my camera lens cap and that Khris just didn't see me running behind him yelling at him to slow down with my arms flailing in the air and I nearly got hit by several cars that must have been wondering why this lady was running down the middle of the road in snow pants and a shiny pink vest!!
We came back from our little tour through town 1 or 2 or 16 times and our faces and ribs hurt from all the laughing!
After the hoo-ha died down, it was just me, at my store, surrounded by a mess of calendars, CD's, shopping bags, princess cloaks, bags of this and that, bells, signs, various float parts that never got put on and at least 8 giant puddles of dirty boot water on my nice laminate floor from all the folks standing around watching their little girls become princesses. I was disappointed that the day was a bust yet thrilled that we had come together and had a rip-roaring day with each other. I mopped my floor, stopped by Karen's for pizza and fun conversation, and went home. No time to mope though as several friends had come over to play cards and ended up staying overnight because of the blizzard.
Sure enough, at 5 pm on the nose, the sleet started falling in chunks big enough to bring pain to each and every little spot on your face that they touched. I guess they were right to cancel the parade, even though I was mad that they had. Of course, it has been rescheduled but on a day when everyone is busy and just can't make it. Besides, I think we're all burnt out from all the planning and holiday stuff.
Winter Wonderland? I guess so. Go check out all the great pics on my website......

What a weekend! After a 3 day road trip (4 wheeled) to Missouri to watch my son graduate from US Army Advanced Individual Training for Military Police, a nasty sinus cold/infection that went away then immediately returned, and 2 days of intense planning sessions with Women On Wheels, I actually look forward to the mundane Monday tasks that await me tomorrow.
Saturday, our chapter of Women On Wheels, the Northwoods Cruisers, met for a planning session where we went over the goals of the chapter and the 2008 rides and events calendar. All I can say is this - keep a close eye on the website for all the great details of things to come. There's so much happening in 2008, there's sure to be something for everyone!
Today (Sunday), we joined the largest and longest running Chapter of Women On Wheels in Wisconsin, the Dairyland Originals, for their planning session. Thank you Sue for being such a great hostess and thank you Karen for bringing me there. It looks like we'll have to opportunity to cross paths several times next riding season.
Now more than ever, I see my dream unfolding right before my eyes. By the time next year's riding season begins, I'm not sure I'll be able to handle the immense joy!
Thank you ladies, stay tuned for much, much more.......
