These are just my opinions, not those of the people around me. So feel free to disagree or not.

Entry for September 06, 2008

I don't really have anything to say, but I have not done a blog in a long time so I thought I would update you all. We have been having several Hurricanes the have come close to us but we have been very luck and none have hit us head on. I love living in the Keys, but the cost is not getting any better. I thought with the housing market going down and the economy not being where it use to be that maybe the prices would get better. On some things it seems that is hasn't gotten worse. I really don't know how much longer we will be here and that sucks. I would love to live here for the rest of my life. Also I live 2 hours away from my mother and father and that has been hard for me. My mom is my best friend and it is hard to live so far away and not see her at any moment. Plus me and Chris are trying to have a kid which hasn't been going to good. We have a few more things to try and crossing our fingers. That is another thing that would be in the fact for us to leave as well. We barely get by as is how is it going to be with a kid. They have really good schools her so raising a kid here is good, but just expensive.

There is my little update so if you have any more questions or advice, feel free to comment.

Hope everyone is safe, Peace and Love!

Winning the Game

Life is all about the change. If you don’t change does life really happen? Who is to really say, I believe that if things don’t change and grow then life does not exist, for how do you grow and love if you don’t change from a child (in thought or body). How do you learn if you don’t change? To grow means to make mistakes and to learn from them and change the out come next time.

Everything in life is a test and you can only make it to next level if you change your path. Just like the games we all play, you can’t keep doing the same thing without changing something and expect to win the game. Life is about winning and not in the since that who goes out with the most toys wins either. It’s who comes out with the most love and understanding.

There was a movie when I was young about when you die and you go to be judged and it determines what happens to you after that. It wasn’t a religious movie, but a dry comedy that I really like, if I remember the name I will post it. If you had lived your life to the fullest and helped other and just did everything in your power to grow and have understanding of life and what it hands you, you would end up going to heaven (but they never called it heaven in the movie). But if you lived your life afraid of the world and the unknown and never took chances and changed your life to better yourself or others around you, you were doomed to repeat life. That I think would be the hell of it all.

I am not a holy roller and I don’t preacher the gospel, to everyone I meet, but I very much believe in God and his changes for us. You can believe what ever religion you want, and call God what ever you want to call him, but if you believe in one Supreme Being and believe in a higher power over all. Then you believe in heaven and the Lord. There are so many names for him and so many ways to celebrate his life and the life he has given us, even back in the old days of the Indians they believed in God. Of course they called him and his angels’ sprits, but it was the same.

We are here to do his work, and everyone’s job it is every different from anyone else’s job. My job is not to go out and preach to everyone like some of my friends who are very good at it and I envy them to some degree, but it is to be the quieter voice that will help out when you don’t think you need it. I will not tell you that God is unhappy at what you are doing or even tell you to stop, but to remind you that he is there for you. But my way is very settle that if you don’t listen you don’t hear it, but I do believe that was what I am here for, to be a friend and family member who would do anything for you.

I have had to change a lot over my years in this world, and I have a lot more changing to do, but I know when it comes time for me to be judged I will not have to return to earth or hell, I will get to take that train ride on to heaven and rejoice with my sisters and bothers. I just pray that all of my family and friends here will be able to go with me.

I hate change, but what I learn from it has made me the person that I am and I wouldn’t want it any other way. Thank you Cindy for giving me so much to think about, without you realizing it you have touched me and my thoughts more then even I know, you are my inspiration to be me. Love ya girl!

I will keep on changing to go on to the next level and on to win the game. See you all at the end.

Beautiful Florida Keys!

It is a beautiful day down here in the Key and I have to work. That bites, but that is also life. We just got back from a nice vacation up in Daytona. Ok we didn't just get back; we took almost a week off in the beginning of March to go up to Daytona for Bike week. It was a blast, we had so much fun and it is such a pretty place up there to ride. We got real wild and crazy; everyone needs that from time to time. I can't wait to do it again. Went up there with my great friend Michelle, and met new friends along the way. We camped at the Cabbage Patch, which is named because they have cabbage coleslaw wrestling. Yes it is as fun as it sounds, to watch anyways. I can't wait to do it again; we had a great time will all of our new and old friends.

Ever time we go up to Daytona we talk about living there. But I don't know if I ever want to leave the Keys. I love it here, even though it keeps changing and all the small mom and papa places are being run out. And more and more is it just a place for tourist to come.

It still is my paradise; I love the water and all the great tasting sea food. Snorkeling is one of my favorite pass times. Even though the fishing is not as good as it was several years ago and there is less and less sea life to see when you are snorkeling.

It makes me so sad to see the careless attitude that the visitors take toward our world. It doesn't just happen here, but I live here so it makes me mad the worse. But they are just here for a visit so they don't care how they ruin the reefs or if they damage a lobster trap. They are not thinking about the person whom makes their lively hood off of these waters.

We have more and more of the local marinas and small hotels selling out to big wig foreigners who are knocking them down and putting up big condos and making the no mooring rule. All of our friends who live on boats and in trailers now have to pay almost as much as someone in one of those condos. It is really sad.

Everyday someone I know is or either knows someone who is moving further north. Just because life down here has gotten so hard, that you can't be an everyday Joe and live the way you can somewhere else. I know if I ever want to own I will have to move, but if I am content to stay in a small conch house and rent. Then I can stay here forever. Right now we are one of the lucky ones and don't have to pay an arm and leg, but if you were to live in the house we live in now up in Stuart or further north you would pay less then what we do. Before I moved down here over 3 yrs ago, I was looking at a three bedroom, two bath duplex for less then I pay for a two bedroom one bath. But that is the price you pay to live in paradise.

I can over look the price of living if the place was not going to all the Condos. We have a resort here that everyone loves to go and it was owned by four guys who all lived in and raised a family in the Keys. Now they have grown tried of it and sold, which is normal. They sold to some rich foreigners who had nothing to do with the Keys until they saw dollar signs. They were looking to tire it down and build new condos like 300 or some units. But there is some sweet justice in all this.

They spent so much on the land and the Village of Islamorada is so strict on building permits that they have hit a big snag. They were looking to start tiring the place down at the end of the year, but can't afford it. So now they are letting the place stand for 5yrs or something like that. Then they hope to get some money back or a big hurricane comes and blows it down. If they don't come up with the money they are hoping that the state will buy it and make a reserve out of it. Either way as of now (things change regularly) it is only going to be there for 5 yrs then they are not going to do anything else with it. Money always does the talking around here; ok everywhere money speaks the loudest. So who ever has the most will get the priority above all the rest.

The place is great as is, everyone who comes to the Keys go there and hang out, so why would you change it and tire everything down, because they hope to make more money. The normal Joe can not come and play you have to be very rich to afford to stay in the new Condos. I am happy that their plans aren't going the exact way they planned.

I don't normally wish ill on companies, but when you have so many buying all the local places and jacking up prices. It’s hard to sit by and just say they are just doing business.

I wish I could have seen the way the Keys were several years ago. It was probably a real paradise and not just one that has been made to be luxury. This was a place for someone to come when fishing was the main reason. Now it has be come so commercial that we have people who don’t know what they are doing or don’t care. You have to watch where you are stepping at a sandbar, because there are so many broken bottles and garbage it is horrible. I know this isn’t just happening down here, but why does it have to happen anywhere.

Happy Holidays To all

I just wanted to send out a Holiday greeting to all my friends. I love the Holiday season, it starts with Halloween where you can let your imagination can run away with you and then it goes into Thanksgiving where you give thanks for beginning able to let your imagination run away with you and for all the people in your life that will get wild and crazy with you and still love you for it. Then there is Christmas, I can't say it is my favorite holiday since I really love Thanksgiving the most, because it is the one Holiday that I can get to see all my family at once including Aunts, Uncles and Cousins (maybe not every year, but that is the Holiday we get together) and they are not expecting you to bring a gift just your appetite. Christmas is great because that is another holiday you spend with your loved ones and share in the birth of Christ and his never ending love for all of us. This Christmas is going to be a very different one for me and Chris. Usually Christmas is filled with family and gathering, but this year we are going to stay home alone. We live two hours away from our family so it not like we can just run over there and be together for dinner or anything like that. So in order to make this Christmas special, and don't miss our family that much we have a nice romantic day planned. We are going down to Marathon, everyone knows to be a big tourist location we are still a very small town. You know the kind where everyone knows everyone if they don't know you by face they know you by your name and where you work.  So we are going down to Marathon to hang out and watch a few shows and have a nice romantic dinner at a nice restaurant. I can't wait, even though we only live 35 minutes away from Marathon we don't go down there very much unless we need to go to Home depot, which is the only one in the upper Keys. So this Christmas will be different, but I am looking forward to the evening. New Years is the last Holiday of the Year and the first for the New Year. Since we moved down the to the Keys it has been a nice little tradition that my parents came down for New Years and we go out to dinner and bring in the New Year at a nice bar and go home and eat Hop & Johns the great tradition to bring you good luck for the next year. This year again we are changing what we have done in the past. My parents are still coming down but we are going out to dinner the day before New Years Eve. For New Years Eve we are going to throw a party at our house, its not going to be anything big just a couple of friends. We are going to cook up so Beaufurd stew (not sure if I spell that right or not) and some good old ribs. Then one thing that will not and can not change will be the eating of Hop Johns for good luck for the New Year.

So even though some of our traditions have altered to some degree the meaning stays the same, it is all about the family and loving each other.

I HOPE EVERYONE HAS A HAPPY HOLIDAY AND WISHING IT FULL OF LOVE!!!
