They let me back in! Can you believe it?

I had merged my yahoo account with a SBC Yahoo DSL account. When you cancel your DSL your accounts are supposed to unmerge without any problems. Well as soon as I got notice of my account suspension, 360 stoped working. I couldn't even go to the home page. I had my wife check my 360 page and my icon said "deleted", errr.

I don't know if you have looked, but it is very hard to find Yahoo support. If it is in their FAQ, then you have a chance. Otherwise, they want you to use their Answers service, where some high school kid will guess what your problem is.

Finally, I found a web form to use and maybe that helped. Now I am back.

Entry for May 30, 2007 - It's Automatic
Entry for May 30, 2007 - It's Automatic magnify
Most of today's modern bathrooms have automatic flushing. You even have automatic soap and towels. These items help an establishment keep their facilities clean and are convenience to the patrons.

There is also a health benefit as there are people that wouldn't flush a toilette on their own. I am not sure if these people think that their waste product is "clean" or if they just don't want to touch the "dirty" handle on the toilette. Either way the automatic toilette has solved all of these problems, right?

Our bathroom at work has manual flush toilette. (just like when we were kids) It is rarely flushed. I wonder if this is because we expect our toilettes to be automatic. Instead of encouraging cleanliness, modern convenience has made us all forget how?

Entry for April 23, 2007 - Equal Pay for all?
The news article on the radio mentioned that women make less money than men and that it starts right after college. Recent female grads make 80% of what recent male graduates make.

Thats bad right?

How do we know? Where is the problem? The employers right?

I would like to know more about the data. Are we talking about women and men with identical degrees? Will female doctors make 80% of males? How about engineers ? or writers, accountants, history majors?

I have a feeling that and discrepancy could vary between degrees. But then there is the problem. We are using data to perpetuate our feelings. at least now it sounds like a fact.

Entry for February 16, 2007 - Offensive Commercials
The Super Bowl is a sporting even but if you don't like the teams playing then it just serves as a showcase for the coming year's new commercial add spots. Companies know that they have a lot of viewers and that they will get a lot of publicity if they can make a memorable ad. Some advertisers just go to far and people are upset.

Please watch the two of the most offensive commercials first

Snickers Commercial:

Many offensive ads include half naked women or men and sexual content. These two spots have neither. Then why are they so offensive? Even GM had to stop showing this advertisement on the air.

Well the first ad, the Snickers commercial, clearly shows how the company doesn't like gay people. I mean clearly it is ok for two men to eat the same candybar and to kiss at the end. Why Not? Then these two shop workers have to do "something manly" quickly to show that they are not "gay".

How about the other commercial? The robot fails at his job and can't find any selfworth so he commits suicide off the bridge. Showing how glamourus and easy a s olution it is to all of our life problems and thats just not right.

Are you still confused? Maybe you are like me and figure the first ad is making fun of straight people more than homosexuals? The two workers are obviously not that intelegent and the candy company is making fun of that without really making a stand on right and wrong. The robot wakes up at the end of the 'nightmare' and is panting. Clearly the robot does not "want" to commit suicide. Furthermore, since when does human rights extend to non-living objects?

Is anyone that watches these ad spots really going to start hating gays and kill themselves just because of these convincing characters without some pre-existing condition?

Maybe these advertisers should stick to bikini clad women instead of using slightly more intellegent story lines. What do you think?

Entry for January 18, 2007 - Paperless Statements
Ever get an offer to switch to paperless statements? Bank statements, cellphone bill, watter bill, etc?

Usually they offer $1.50 or some small amount to get you to switch to paperless statements. They save money (lots of money) but want you to feel that it is your benefit.

Enrolling in Paperless Statements is easy. It's free. And it's for a good cause. So what are you waiting for? Just click on the button below and sign up for Paperless Statements.

Here's the latest gimmick.

Enroll in paperless statements and Citi will plant a tree on your behalf.

Citi bank is offereing to plant a tree on my behalf. lol Do you think they will plant the exact number of trees? Or maybe they are already planning to plant "more than enough" trees.

Either way do you suppose that they will consider this a "charity" and write off the whole cost for tax purposes? Seems like if I sign up then that would make it my charity and not theirs.

It's our turn to give something back. Go paperless, plant a tree.

Maybe I am just being cynical because this is better than $1.50 in so many ways.

Go paperless, plant a tree.
