J. Scott's Blog Full Post View | List View

This is a blog all about me. It will be just rants that I go on about for no reason.

03/05/08
Hi guys. This is Scotty again. What a month so far. It is amazing what has happened this month. We have had highs in the 70s and in the 40s in the same month. We have had snow enough to cancel every public school in the Tri-State area except for Marshall. Before that though, there was just enough ice on the roads to be bad for a while and Marshall was delayed for two hours two days in a row. This is nuts about Marshall. I know they are just thinking that the students that can come will. But honestly, a lot of people drive a long way to get to class every day. Then you have the people that live out in the middle of nowhere that can't move out of their driveway.

OK, after the weather, there is only one thing that I like to talk about. Sports. Of course. This is mostly a sports blog and I like to talk about sports. So, lets go with baseball first. Baseball is suppose to be "Americas past time." This whole steroids thing is going way out of control but I think I might have already spoken about that.

Football is a little sadder at this moment. Brett Favre retired yesterday. He will be missed in the league and known as the Iron Man of the NFL. If there was an iron man award I guarantee that he would have been voted at least a dozen times the winner of it. He played so much that most of us don't even know who the backup of Green Bay is right now. OK, Aaron Rogers does I guess. Before him, who was it> I know I don't remember because he never played that is for sure.

Another thing, Randy Moss resigned with the Patriots. $27 Mil over the next 3 years isn't too bad if you ask me. The reports are that the Eagles tried to get him with a $36 Mil/ 4 years. Too bad Eagles. He wants a ring. Get over it. You guys will never be back in that position again. It will not happen. You need a solid WR and RB to go along with the QB that should have won the big one a long time ago.

There is one last thing that I need to rant about. That is this NBA MVP award. This used to be about the best guy in the league. He needed to be maybe not the best numbers wise but he needed to be the go-to guy in the clutch. Someone you can trust when you need a 3 at the end of game 7 in the Finals. No longer is that the standard. I do think that both Kobe and LeBron can make that shot but this is more of a popularity contest. They both have a HUGE fan base. Both of the numbers that these guys have are really good. Honestly though, I don't think that it is just all about numbers. It is the little things that players do some of these include: hustling to get loose balls, taking a charge, leading in the locker room. Both of these guys do some of these things but not all. I won't count on LeBron or Kobe will take a charge all of the time when it needs to be.
But for you fanatics lets look at the numbers.
PPG 30.3
RPG 8.1

APG 7.5
SPG 2.0
BPG 1.0
FG% 0.486
FT% 0.709
3P% 0.300
MPG 40.5
These are LeBrons. The next are Kobes numbers.
PPG 28.3
RPG 6.1
APG 5.3
SPG 2.0
BPG 0.5
FG% 0.464
FT% 0.844
3P% 0.346
MPG 38.4
See these are almost identical. Now, let me show you one more perons numbers. This may surprise you that this guy is not even on the radar for MVP.
PPG 20.5
RPG 5.0
APG 4.6
SPG 1.7
BPG 0.4
FG% 0.455
FT% 0.840
3P% 0.414
MPG 31.5
You may say that these numbers are not even close. Well, look at the last one. This guy plays almost 10 minutes less then both of them. Yet he still has very comparable numbers. Do the math, he scores more per minute then both Kobe and LeBron. The rest is just as good, if not better then the two. It is not just the numbers with this guy. He does anything and everything the coach asks him to. He is a leader in the locker room and he is a leader on the floor. So, before you go and pick your MVP think about everything, not just the numbers.
Please, tell me who this third player is. You would be surprised to know that he is a bench player. He plays off of the bench people and he has just as good numbers as the two stars.!!!
If you find out who this guy is, he is my pick for the MVP of the NBA.

Well, well, well...... The end of the year, another year in the books, one more year older as well. Nothing like the end of the year, is it? Nothing better then knowing that no matter what has happened in your life, no matter what happened around you that there is another year to screw up? Oh, I mean get it right, of course. Resolusions gone wrong, promises broken, hearts broken, it doesn't matter any more because there is another year to keep the promise, heal the wounds, keep the reslutions.

As I look back at this year only a few things stick out. I can sum up this year in one word: crazy. This year was the craziest I have been through. Not just in my personal life but in everything that happened everywhere else.

Lets see.... The first thing happened in February. My step dad passed after a battle of cancer. I still miss him very much. Even though he was not my father, he was still someone I looked up to and loved very much. It still hurts to this day to think about it even though I know that he is in a better place and is not hurting any longer. As they say though, one bad thing is replaced by a good thing. That is what happened later that month. I got engaged to the woman I love and want to spend the rest of my life with. She is the pride and joy in my life. I love her very much and nothing will change that.
In August, I started back to school for my bacholers degree and so did my fiancee. She is going for her bacholers as well. Mine is in Computer Science and hers in Forensic Chemistry for some reason.
These are examples of my crazy life. I could elaborate on other things but some people tend to think that I am crazy ranting on the sports world. So for now I am not. Another post for that after the playoffs and Super Bowl is done.

Well, to all that read, may the new year bring you happiness and joy. Have a great and blessed hloiday and New Year.

Scotty

After it being a month since writing one minute little thing in this little blog that only a hand full of people read, I decide that it is time to give you guys another episode of "The Life and Times That is Scotty's Life."

It all started maybe a week or so ago. OK it was a week ago today. I was sitting at work trying to imagine what it would be like for the crazy Mizzou/WVU fans to actually take a trip to see their team in the national championship. Later that night, I watched most of the Big 10 Championship that featured the number one team in the nation, Missouri, and a very powerful Oklahoma team that was ready for another Big 10 title. Turns out that it was an OK game through about three quarters and Oklahoma was on top and sure enough they ended up winning. So much for Mizzou in the title game. I thought,"Well, at least it will be a WVU/OSU match up out of default because all WVU had to do was take care of their nemesis Pitt at Morgantown in another edition of the Backyard Brawl. After all said and done, Pitt, being a three touchdown underdog did the impossible. The coach is a defensive genius that hailed from the NFL. So yea, WVU did lose.

So needless to say, since WVU lost, they are out as BCS hopefuls, and now they end up in Tempe, AZ for the Fiesta Bowl against Oklahoma that I could have sworn just beat the crap out of the number one team in the nation not three days ago.

So, why say all of this? Well, for one because no one listens to me and so I have to say it somewhere. J/K guys. Another thing is because I rant and rave all the time about the mess in NCAA Football and what they need to do to fix this and get the BCS out of NCAA Football before it is too late. Too much has been said and I will stop because I hate the BCS and all it stands for. The system needs to change but it won't. I hate the BCS. (OH, wait I said that already)

OK, for the people that are still reading this, I can say that I passed my final Wednesday night that took a whole 25 minutes to take and I had notes that I didn't even use as well. I have one today at 2:00 P.M. For those of you reading this and do not realize this but yea it is Saturday. I hate finals on Saturday. After that I have two on Monday. After that I get to release all of my anger and frustration out on the poor little kids at Billy Bobs. HEHEHE. It will be full of games and torture people at the laser tag game. After all of the fun and games I will sit back and relax knowing that the little rug rat that had his birthday there had a great time even though he lost and I pretty much let him win.

So, after all of my finals are over, I will be a better person because I will not have the stress of finals on me. Someone give me a shout on 12/11 so that I know that you read this.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYONE!!!!!!

Gotta run, see you guys later.

Wow, been that long? Guess so. Well, life is strange that is sure. With everything happening I kinda forgot you guys.

Class, work, and everything else is in the way. No time for anything. Damn I'll be glad when a break comes along. I will enjoy every minute of it. End of the month, Thankgsgiving break. Can't wait.

Work, need I say more? SSDDBP... IM me if ya need help with that. Too explicit for the blog.

Class? Well, better now that I do not have to go to the dumb art class. I am suppose to be learning art not writing a professional composition. So, I dropped it. Next semester, probably Geology, English, math, psychology, and computer science. 15 hours if I count right. That means another full schedule for me. No time for you guys.

Anything else?!?! Oh yea, the car. Spent $471 to replace timing belt, water pump, tensioner assembly, and camshaft seal. Preventive maintenance is what it was really. 100K schedule. Nothing else done to it. Still have 2 12s and an amp sitting in the apartment waiting to be put in. First, brakes, tires, windshield wipers, and maybe O2 sensors, dunno about that. And a tie rod or something along with an alignment.

Time to go for now I guess. MAybe in a few more months I will get back to ya. HAHA.

P.S. Hey girl, my friend, are you gonna name the kid after me?? You should, you know. Just kidding.

Time to update for the few people that read this.

OK.....anything else you guys need????

OK just kidding. Been a while I know. Have been really busy with class and work. Work sucks I know.......Maybe soon I can find a new job that is better.
Friday night I finally got to see a MLB game in person. I was real fun even though the Reds lost.....AGAIN. 6-0 against the Cubbies who made it to the post season. It is the same as last year.....Next year, next year. Been sayin that for the last 10 years or so now but it works. Look at the Lions fans they have said that since Barry Sanders retired. Poor jerks they have to put up with a terrible front office that can't do crap.
So I got home at 2 A.M. Saturday morning and I am still tired from it because I had get up at 7 A.M. for work both Saturday and Sunday.
Hmmmmmmmmmm.......................... I am not to sure what else to say.
Well Mid Term is coming up soon so I guess I can update ya then. Until then, ta ta for now.
