Dog Shows, Rescue/Foster Groups, Pet/Breeder Legislation, Health Research for Canines/Felines

Philosophical, you say!: ... yes, as I look out my window and see the dreariness of the day, my thoughts are on where we are (all of us) today ... in many cases, not in a hopeful position, right?

... and who is the cause of where we are?

... my neighbor ... the children ... the government ... and on and on the names could be listed as to the cause.

But the truth is, WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHO WE ARE ... HOW WE LIVE ... HOW WE INTERACT WITH OTHERS ... NO ONE ELSE!

Look around and observe the people you meet and pass everyday ... no eye contact because we have been told that one cannot trust the other person ... no smile because someone may think that we want something ... and on and on.

We do not even 'dress up' for special occasions anymore ... often the attire just lets it 'all hang out' and leaves nothing to the imagination. Cleanliness is not cool anymore ... and markings in areas that we would never dream of seeing.

....
but WE DO DRESS UP OUR ANIMALS ... curiously we spend big $$$'s for special outfits to strut around. Interesting indeed, don't you think?

Pride in ourselves has slowly disappeared and transferred to our animals. I guess one may say that we are not entirely lost ... but a life of worth is a life that exudes balance and respect for oneself ... and animal life ... and the environment ... and a joy for living without the 'stuff' that doesn't matter.

If you are an exhibitor at a dog show, and you come in #3 or #4, or even #2, do you graciously congratulate the #1 winner?

At work, someone has really done a terrific job but you are not included in the glory of accomplishment, do you compliment and support that individual with a humble spirit?

Behind the wheel, someone cuts you off, do you give him the 'single' finger salute or do you rather wave and smile and not become agitated?

Not easy, folks ... but learn from your animals ... unconditional love no matter what you do ... loyalty under any circumstance ... always forgiving ...

WHAT AN EXAMPLE TO FOLLOW ... and this is a 'full time job' that will occupy every minute of your day ... and raise you to 'higher' standards towards your goals in life.

This is all I ask of you ,,,: My life is likely to last 10-15 years.

Any separation from you is likely to be painful.

Give me time to understand what you want of me.

Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.

Don't be angry with me for long

and don't lock me up as punishment.

You have your work, your friends, your entertainment,

but I have only you.

Talk to me.

Even if I don't understand your words,

I do understand your voice when speaking to me.

Be aware that however you treat me,

I will never forget it.

Before you hit me, before you strike me,

remember that I could hurt you, and yet,

I choose not to bite you,

Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative,

ask yourself if something might be bothering me.

Perhaps I'm not getting the right food,

I may have been in the sun too long,

or my heart might be getting old or weak.

Please take care of me when I grow old.

You, too will grow old.

On the ultimate difficult journey,

go with me please.

Never say you can't bear to watch.
