Let it go!
I've just personally experienced the implementation of two famous principles in operations: Just in time (TPS) and buffer or suffer (or can I call Just in case instead?). My mom often asks me: "What's wrong with you? Why are you always in a hurry? Why don't you give some minutes buffering before the deadlines?" I was puzzled and didn't know how to answer my mom. And my life was actually always like that. Always, just in time for something. I came back from Ha Noi just in time to attend High school for the gifted. I woke up just in time for a morning class. I submitted my application just in time before they close.... I didn't know how to answer my mom cuz all I can tell is the extreme tense of having to do something exactly right just once or you'll lose stimulates me and makes me feel fulfilled.
I also have the habit of rarely preparing something in advance, well... just in case I'll need it. I've always waited till I confirm that I need something then do it. Just in time. This way saves me a lot of unnecessary effort and money but it breaks my nerves sometimes. Well, just like the lesson in operations management: JIT is not always good and Just in case is not always necessary. It's simple but applying it right is not easy because there are a lot of things out of your control. If you have a lot of capital to spare, a lil bit inventory won't drive you to bankcrupcy. But if you don't, God will give you something else to make up for it - the ability to know when and where to be anxious and when and where to be bold. How fair He is to us!
Swinging yourself between Just in time and Just in case and the anxiety entailed is like some spices that can't be missed in a dish. And when it's over, we feel empty.
