Right now we are focusing on our dealership. Randy buys and sells and I run the office. We are loving it!
Saturday night our friend had a Halloween party at her Bar & Grill. We had a blast! I dressed up as "the Prom Queen who didn't win"! (what you cannot see in the picture is my multicolored slippers I wore with the dress!) Randy went as a Bar Fly! There was a ton of people there and some pretty scary ones too! There was a man wearing some kind of cloth over his face with just a hole for his mouth (I really imagine it was so he could drink his beer!) and a scary hat... He reminded me of one of the Halloween or Friday the 13th movies. I went over to him at one point and told him he was freaking me out! He chuckled, but I never did find out who he was! Our friends that own the bar were in some really cute costumes too! My friend Kara was a Flamingo and her husband was a pickle barrel! LOL~ He was histerical! He had a ummm well, a pickle he kept pulling out of his barrel! It was just too funny! There were girls going up and putting their hands in the barrel, pulling on his pickle!! I remember overhearing "Hey! Don't rip off his pickle!" OMG it was a blast...There was this girl that came up to everyone in the bar, dancing with everyone and if she liked the women, she was a bit too friendly! LOL~ I was hiding behind Randy whenever she came near me! She well had a thing for grabbing body parts, and well lets just say you could find her fingerprints on many a breast that night... I tried to hide from her as much as possible... but she still found me! LMAO~ I don't even know who she was, but if you can imagine the image...of some girl going by and saying & doing "honk honk" on every woman in her path... She was a trip! But we still had fun... I hadn't dressed up for Halloween in maybe 9 years, so it was way overdue! Hope you have a safe and Happy Halloween!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
In my last post I mentioned my frustration over feeling so helpless regarding the fires in Southern California.
I did go out and do something. I went and knocked on my neighbors doors and asked for anything they could spare to donate to the fire victims. I now have an SUV loaded with clothes and shoes for the American Red Cross. I finished gathering all the clothes by about 2:00 and called the Red Cross, and they are only open M, W, & F 9:00 to 1:00! Figures... But it does give me more time to collect more for the fire victims. I even got a portable dog kennel from my daughter who is an animal lover and knows about all the animals down there that have also lost their homes. I was pretty proud of her!
So after work today, I will knock on more doors and see what else I can collect...You should have seen me out there riding on a quad stopping at houses...piling bags of clothes on the rack of the quad! I made quite the site!
Hope you have a nice weekend... I will post more next week!
With the winds still going, so is the fire. And now to see that they are not allowed to fly firefighting helicopters is unbelievable! I cannot believe what is happening down there. My sister lives about an hour away from the fires and for now she is safe (And seems to think the fires won't get as far as Yucca Valley - whew) But what about all those poor people that have lost their lives, in essence, because of this horrendous, out of control fire?? I was reading up online about the fires a while ago and ran across some really disturbing information... Take a look at this...
The National Guard's C-130 cargo planes, among the most powerful aerial firefighting weapons, never were slated to help. The reason: They've yet to be outfitted with tanks needed to carry thousands of gallons of fire retardant, though that was promised four years ago.
"The weight of bureaucracy kept these planes from flying, not the heavy winds," Republican U.S. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher told The Associated Press. "When you look at what's happened, it's disgusting, inexcusable foot-dragging that's put tens of thousands of people in danger."
I couldn't agree more with Ms. Rohrabacher. What else is there to say? Sorry, we couldn't find it in the budget? We're too busy to deal with the issues at hand? Grrrrr! I did find it interesting, the rebuttal from the Govenator...
"Anyone that is complaining about the planes just wants to complain," Schwarzenegger replied angrily to a question Wednesday. "The fact is that we could have all the planes in the world here — we have 90 aircraft here and six that we got especially from the federal government — and they can't fly because of the wind."
Indeed, winds reaching 100 mph helped drive the flames and made it exceedingly dangerous to fly. Still, four state helicopters and two from the Navy were able to take off Monday while nearly two dozen others stayed grounded.
I guess what makes it more frustrating to me is the absolute devastation... And quite frankly I am not sure I really would be happy with any result other than to totally extinguish the fire... Call me bitchy! But I feel totally helpless here in Northern Arizona. God bless all those firefighters, the volunteers feeding the firefighters and las but not least the victims. We are praying for you all.
As an afterthought, I used to live in Hayward so when I found this picture, it made me proud the HFD are there helping. May god watch over all these volunteers and victims down there
