- Who will it be?????!!!!!!
-
Well yes, I have not written a blog in sometime. Just busy.
But the question on everybody lips now is - WHO WILL IT BE???. Bolt/Gay/Powell. Powell just got the better of Bolt today in Sweden (NDN-Galan 2008) with a time of 9.88 over 9.89. A fairly good performance but clearly neither men were at their best.
I guess we will have to wait for the Olympics. I will reveal my choice at a later date.
- Norwich Union Super Grand Prix 2007
-
Back in August 2006 I highlighted the young man, Yohan Blake of Jamaica, as a another of the up and coming Jamaican sprinters among others. Today he will making his debut on the international stage at the Norwich Union Super Grand Prix in the 100 meters. He comes out against a strong field with headliner, Tyson Gay, who will attempt another world record breaking run.
We expect Blake to put on a good show and even if he doesn't make the top ten, we are happy to see him getting the needed exposure at the highest level. We wish him all the best.
The image above shows Blake in the anchor leg of the 4X100 meters at the IAAF Junior Games in Beijing China 2006. The Jamaican team won the event.
- Veronica is Back!! - World Leading 100m run
-
Veronica Campbell is back at the top with a bang!!! Here Veronica is seen ahead of Kerron Stewart and Sheri-Ann Brooks winning the 100m finals on June 23, 2007 in a scorching time of 10.89 at the JAAA National Senior Championships in Kingston. This time puts Veronica on top with the fastest time for the event this year.
- Bolt - Takes 200m Jamaican National Record
-
Usian Bolt erases the 200 metre Jamaica National record formerly held by Donald Quarrie. Quarrie did 19.86 in 1977 but 35 years after Bolt pushes the mark to 19.75 seconds posted at the JAAA National Senior Championships in Kingston on June 24, 2007.
Congrats to Usian, keep up your training. Bolt claims to have been inspired after watch Tyson Gay, clock a time of 19.62, on TV prior to his race.
- Tyson Gay bullets to 9.76w at the Reebok Grand Prix in New York
-
Gay took almost 70 metres to get clear of Bahamian Derrick Atkins, then stopped the clock at an eye-popping 9.76. The stadium held its breath waiting for the wind reading, having an eye on the flags already, and exhaled when it was announced as 2.2, faster than allowable for a World record. Still, Gay ran 9.79 two weeks ago with a 2.5 tailwind, and now 9.76 with 2.2. (Source www.iaaf.org).
Yeah well 2.2 or 2.5 wind, it is clear that Tyson Gay is definitely a force to reckon with for the 100 metres. With this kind of consistent power I expect him to break he world record in this event soon.
