Life and the people you meet are interesting. Here's the way I see it, in my own words...

Things that make you say hhhmmm......

What do you say when someone tells you "I have always thought you two should meet...he has a thing for mouths and your teeth-gum-mouth-ratio is all him."

On a more personal note...

I’m writing this personal note in an effort to not only raise some awareness on something that has affected my family, but also to get your support in efforts to help others.

On the evening of Sunday, Sept 16th, I will be participating in the Light the Night Walk at the UCLA campus, a national event that includes a 2.8 mile evening walk and festival. I’m doing this to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s mission to find cures for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families. A dear family member of mine has been affected by lymphoma cancer twice, and so this walk really hits me closer to home.

Light The Night stands apart from other events in that walkers carry illuminated balloons to celebrate the lives of children and loved ones affected by cancer – white balloons for survivors and red balloons for all other participants as signs of hope. This walk is just one little way I can show support and raise awareness, so I’m asking for help from others too. There are a few ways you can get involved:

Come walk with me!
2.8 miles is nothing compared to what victims are going through! Come out and walk with me… it will be for a good cause, it will do you good, and will help you burn off the extra calories you know you’re going to eat/drink that weekend! (I’ll be coming back from vegas that day so you know I’m going to need it!)

Donate and support me!
I know, I know… parting ways with money is such a pain. If you’re not gonna walk, think of it as paying me to walk for you, and think of all the people you’ll help just by donating a few dollars! Your donation is tax deductible too! So please help me rack up my fundraising efforts, and know that you’re doing this for a good cause. PLEASE CLICK HERE TO DONATE!

I’m not one to send things like this unless I feel really passionate about the cause. I would love your support one way or another. And if you have family members who have also been affected, I’ll be happy to carry a balloon for them as well

Thanks for taking a moment to read this…

Elvis is alive, the Witch isn't dead & I kept going to the bathroom to hear "Dancing Queen"!

If it wasn't just the most random weekend in LA! Definitely a memorable one that I'm not only able to tell you about, but I also got a few pics to share too (and pics from others as well)!

Friday June 29th - It all started when I woke up in the AM and prepared to enter in my Monkey Balls for a cooking contest at work. It was the 3rd annual 4th of July contest and I was determined to beat the cooking master, Todd Rimes. Sho nuff... I won! Best in Dessert and Best Overall, giving me the Purple Spatula for a year, bragging rights, and a $100 gift certificate!

Then the night got started when Manning sent the email out... "Time for the Arsenal". Stopped for a little mani/pedi beforehand and the chick at the salon doing my hands was in a horrible mood! I wanted to get mad at her for being so rough with me, but couldn't get myself to do it cuz she did a freakin' FANTASTIC job on my nails! Tip for job well done, don't tip for being a beeyach... such a rough decision! Anyhow, off to the Arsenal for some chow, a shot (thanks Norma!), and a glass of wine. Later, we ended up at a hole in the wall in Culver City by my house where I ran into Carlos and Charles too! We went there on Ray's suggestion to go watch Adam play - It was an interesting bar, I wouldn't order the wine thinkin' it high quality or anything if you know what I mean. We played pool & listened to the music.

Saturday June 30th - Woke up late and needed some fuel. Met up with Ray Ray & Stitch for lunch at Hamburger Mary's. OMG, you gotta get the fried mac-n-cheese balls! And in the bathroom, it's hilarious... a disco ball spins and Dancing Queen starts playing! How can you possible do your thing when all you want to do is dance? Then off to the mall to make Mr Ray more Mr Hollywood. He styled up the Prada glasses (glad you took my suggestion).

Later that night, got glamoured up for a wine tasting hosted by the Wine Expo. The boys definitely cleaned up good! They had GREAT red and white wines from the Italian region, and tasty little appetizer treats. We were all hounding down the servers for their bacon-wrapped scallops, couldn't get enough! Spent the night eating good food and drinking fine wine. Somewhat told about an open position in Hawaii to manage Marketing for the wine expo there - hhmmm.... Maui, wine..... lemme think about that one! But definitely ended it with this yummy, peachy, heavenly goodness that I am going to go buy cases of when I get rich!

Sunday July 1st - Woke up early... because today was the day I was going to buy Jeans! I was all psyched to get new jeans (yes, it's a chick thing!). Was there 1 minute after the store opened and Norma and I got the total celeb treatment - our own personal Jean shopper! Two hours & 5 pairs of jeans later, I was exhausted, I needed a nap. That was the plan until I talked myself into going into the gym so I can look good in my new jeans - motivation baby! 2 hours at the gym, so nice to be back after recovery! Then another dress up night cuz tonight was Wicked, part II! I had seen it in March and loved it so much I got group passes for about 16 of us. Met everyone for drinks at the Frolic room, then off to the show. This time the performance was much more powerful and we were in the mezzanine section so I was able to see more of the stage (and was farther away from the flying monkeys!) - another absolutely wonderful performance! Afterwards, it was chow time. Jenn suggested we go see the singing Asian Elvis and off to the Palms restaurant we went. I can't explain it, so I'll show you....

It was a great weekend filled with random fun!

Ray, call me when you're ready for another Wii butt kicking!

Come on now...
Come on now... magnify

It amazes me the number of 99 cent stores I pass by each morning/afternoon. Sometimes, I see people literally lined up waiting for the store to open. So is there such a high demand for 99 cent quality items that we have to have a store practically on every corner? Its like the Dunkin Donuts of the east coast. Soon we'll have more 99 cent stores than Starbucks!

What could possibly be so good and cheap you have to wait in line to get it at 8am?

Come on now....

Norah Jones @ The Greek Theatre - June 21st
Norah Jones @ The Greek Theatre - June 21st magnify

The one person I have been dying to see all year is Norah Jones. I absolutely love her voice, her music, her style. This 3rd album, "Not Too Late", is a great follow up to her album 3 years ago - she seems to provide a little more funk and fun in her latest songs, while still remaining sultry and romantic.

I was really excited to see her live and she lived up to all expectations. We didn't actually get into the theatre until about the 3rd song since we stopped for food at Fred62 (great place to eat or pick up food before the show!). We listened outside while chowing down on burgers, salad, onion rings and wine. She performed about 1/4 of the songs from her last album (the popular ones), and the rest were off her new. Favorite songs --> Wake me Up, Wish I Could, Rosie's Lullaby, Thinking about you, Until the End, Not too late (no particular order). And Little Room and Sinkin' Soon are fun, upbeat jazzy songs that are good too.

Would see Norah again anytime! Great performance, great songwriter, great artist.
