All about Jay
At last a fairly relaxed weekend after a pretty busy month. First I was in India for 10 days. Then Jill had to go to Atlanta. Then she went back to Atlanta. So this weekend we just hung out, saw some friends, and spent a ton of time with Jay.
Funny story - Jay has figured out the difference between Jill's car and mine...and has a fit each time we go out if we do not go in my car (I like to think he prefers my car...but in reality I think it is just that I drive faster than Jill). He points to my car and says "ZZZzzzzzz" which is a loose translation for zoom. And he loves it when I go fast. And around curves in the road. He's such a little boy. We took him for a drive in the Saratoga hills this evening...and he was going absolutely nuts!
Finally the blazing hot weather has subsided, so we can once again spend time outside. Took Jay to a bbq at some of our friends' house on Saturday afternoon, where he managed to get himself fairly wet in a paddling pool (hence the no-shirt pic). He didn't get into the pool but preferred to splash around from outside it.
Its pretty interesting to see how people develop - Jay is really a pretty shy kid. Yesterday at the bbq he was saying "home" from the minute we got there, for about the first 45 mins. Then he got settled in and was ok. Jill and I figured that we need to see if we can get help him get settled in situations with strangers more easily...otherwise I guess we'll just have to wait it out!
Today we're going to go to the Yahoo! company picnic...we'll see how it goes!
Jay got a little toy car a couple of weeks ago and LOVES is. Pretty much the most exciting thing in his life right now. I think he really understands what we are upto when we are driving him around now.
We went to Atlanta for the long weekend to see Jill's family, which was very nice. Got to see Jill's parents and step-parents and her sister (and her husband and baby) and her step-sister (and family). The highlight was Jay getting to meet his great-grand-father (see picture). Pretty great for him to spend some time with that generation. He is a very lucky kid.
As an aside - this trip made me appreciate the Bay Area weather. When we landed in Atlanta it was 96 degrees and unvelievable humid. I'm pretty convinced if you walked around with a glass, it would eventually fill with water on its own. And when we got home today it was 72 and beautiful.
