After doing some serious soul searching about my life and what I want to make of it I have decided to quit school for a while and give something back. You may not know that As many as 10,000 people have died monthly since the conflict began in Darfur, Sudan, mainly due to pervasive – and preventable – disease and hunger. Brutal ethnic conflict has driven over 2 million people into homelessness, their huts and villages pillaged, burned, and destroyed. I didn't either until I watched the discovery channel last week.

I have signed up to go to the Sudan for a period of one year. World Vision is a Christian relief, development and advocacy organization dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. Penelope is now a World Vision soldier armed with compassion, desire, a malaria shot and a one way ticket to hell on earth. I don't think they have computers and stuff there so I will not be able to keep up with the many great friends I have met here. I am being called on to abandon my privileged life style and accept a higher calling. Plus, I can use this on my resume right. It certainly won't hurt.
