HI ALL! WOW- I cant believe its been 6 mos since I was here last to update this. The boyz & I are doing well. The boyz are part of the Bakersfield Yellowjackets Track Team now & are LOVING IT!!
Kieran & Andrew are both working on the High Jump & Hurdles, possibly the Pole Vault. James is going to maybe work on shot put & discus. He loves to throw things so that should be right up his alley. The boyz are all wanting to do javelin, but we'll have to see. (Not too sure about the throwing of sharp objects.......)
Anyway, thats whats going on at the moment. That may be why its beenso long since I updated. Take care all!!
Well- they made it! They had a great trip to Australia & experienced something that many of us never will. They spent time at "Underwater World" on the Gold Coast of Australia, the Sydney Opera House, the Olympic Coliseum, Australia Zoo, an Outback Farm Stay, Daydream Island & The Great Barrier Reef & much more. Kieran said one of his favorite experiences was being on the Gold Medal stand in the Olympic Stadium & imagining he had just won a Gold Medal in the High Jump! He also loved the giant sea turtle during their Great Barrier Reef experience & meeting Steve Irwin in person.
Next year the Student Ambassadors are going to Explore Europe. They will start out landing in Ireland, then go to Wales, Netherlands, Belgium, London & Paris- not necessarily in that exact order. We are praying we will be able to send him. Thank you again to all that helped support our efforts to get him to Australia this year. God Bless all!
WOW!
I can hardly believe that May was the last time I was here. We have been getting the last minute things finished for Kierans trip - including getting him Baptized! Yes, thats right. He wanted to get baptized before he went so we traveled to San Luis Obispo, Ca 7/9/06 for the big event. It was an awesome day to be baptized in the ocean. And our friend & Pastor Dale Claiborne pulled one out of the hat for this date. It was wonderful to see. Kieran has always admired Pastor Dale & so it was an honor for him. What a special way to start a very special adventure!
The travelers are leaving on 7/17/06 @ 5pm on the Airport Bus of Bakersfield for LAX & will join up with a group from Pennsylvania/NewJersey to travel on to Brisbane, Australia. They will return on 7/31/06 into Bakersfield around 12:30pm.
Andrew also will be experiencing a trip alone this year. He will be going to church camp- sans Kieran! Kieran has "graciously" opted out of church camp this year so that Andrew can have a get away experience of his own. Andrew is really looking forward to camp this year. The theme is "Christians as Superheroes" or something like that. It looks to be an exciting summer for all of us.
And James starts Kindergarten this year. School starts Aug 21st this year & we are all excited about James first day & first year of "school". He has done well in Preschool so we expect him to continue to thrive as he goes thru Kinder & on into the upper grades. So we have a full summer/fall coming up.
