Generally just my political rants but I venture into other territory on occasion:)

Now iPods too?!?!?!

Alright, here's the story behind this one:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,250644,00.html

So this guy wants to prevent you from using iPods, cell phones, etc. while crossing the street. WHAT IN THE WORLD?!?!?! For starters, it's survival of the fittest. If these people are a)Dumb enough to use one of these devices in traffic (which I would fall into this one) and b)Not smart enough to take extra time to look around while doing so then boom...Whatever happens is their responsibility.

The last line of this story says:

"You want to jog around a jogging path, all the more power to you, but you should be crossing streets and endangering yourself and the lives of others."

This quote was from this senator, Sen. Carl Kruger. Umm...first question Mr. Senator, "If I'm crossing the street whilst using my iPod, whom else am I endangering besides myself?"

Can't people think for themselves?!?! This to me is a very dangerous pattern. When the government has to step in and police simple behaviors such as this then there's a problem. I hope to heck that this piece of legislation fails miserably.

And actually a little bit of a correction. While I do use my cell phone and iPod while out and bout, when I'm using my iPod in these situations, I only put one earpiece in. And I know, this still isn't safe, but obviously I'm extra cautious when I do it. I also take the responsibility of it on to myself. If something happens, it's my fault, no on else's and they need not concern themselves. Plus, I have my own insurance, and my own job. So if I did get injured, I'd be paying the bill, not everyone else. If only more people had this attitude....

Keith Urban's Lawsuit

First off, read the story behind this at:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070206/ap_en_mu/people_keith_urban_lawsuit

Ok. Next, go to:

http://www.keithurban.com

and then go to:

http://www.keithurban.net

Now that you've got the info here's my take on this. Keith Urban (Country Singer) has gone a little overboard on this one. At most, I think he should be pushing to get this painter guy to maybe change the wording on his website, or post something at the top of the page stating that he is not the country music musician of the same name. I could understand and totally go for that. It seems fair.

But according to the news article, Keith Urban (Country Singer) wants this website handed over to him as well!! What in the world?! I could see if this was me, Patrick, and I had purchased www.keithurban.com and was trying to sell my stuff through there. I'd totally be using his name to sell my crap. But this other guy's name is Keith Urban too! What right does Keith Urban (country singer) have to demand that this website be turned over to him just because he's famous. Seriously. I like Keith Urban (Country singer) and I've purchased alot of his music but this kinda puts me on edge.

And if anyone out there happens to have a legal degree, please tell me, does he actually stand a chance of taking keithurban.com from this guy? Seems a little crazy to me...

Now Light Bulbs?

Alright, this is definite proof that Democrats think we're too stupid to make simple decisions on our own.

First, check out this story:

California Lawmaker Wants to Ban Traditional Light Bulbs

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,249001,00.html

Ok, here's the thing. I have some of these new light bulbs. I'm actually quite a fan of them, however, I don't want them everywhere. I have them in closets, in the hall, and in bedrooms. My main reason for this is they do last longer, a lot longer, I have several of these types of bulbs that I've used for almost 5 years! Plus, I just hate changing light bulbs. I wanna stick the bulb in and be done with it, not change it every couple of months or even every year. Call me lazy, but that's my reasoning!

However, that said, I do not and will not use them in the living room. I use high end incandescent bulbs because I want the light in the room to be gentle and welcoming. Call me crazy but I have a thing with light bulbs. There's actually an apartment near mine that that you face when driving in and I always notice the florescent lights all over their living room!! That's all they have...it drives me nuts..the plain, harsh, color killing florescent lights...in the living room!! Dah!!! Now I know these bulbs that they discuss in the article aren't traditional florescent bulbs and the light isn't nearly as harsh, however, it still isn't as good as the incandescent bulbs that you can get.

Seriously though, legislating light bulbs?! If people want to save money, let them, if not, let them hand it over to the power company. I think people are smart enough to decide this for themselves. If you live in this man's district, please call him, write him, fax him, whatever and tell him to stop insulting people's intelligence and let them decide what type of light bulbs to use on their own.
