FEAR FACTOR Dining
FEAR FACTOR Dining magnify

I like the tv show Fear Factor. It's humorous to see what people will do for $50,000. For me it's not as much what they'd do, but rather what the heck gross crap would they possibly eat. See, I could never do that show over the eating contests. Im sure I could do most other stunts, but eating anything that smells and I'd be in that tin bucket in a heartbeat.

I guess everyone couldn't get on the show and there are many FF wannabees out there. Some seem to have taken the show's theme to new fraudulent levels too! As in scams. Scams by eating objects you and I would likely never try such as eating glass at a restaurant. Of course then you'd have to make a stink, maybe choke a little, definitely call the squad and go to the hospital. What's left? Let's hammer out a financial settlement for all of my "self-inflicted" pain and suffering due to your carelessness in serving me glass! Wait, this doesn't make any sense?

These morons did this at least 12 freaking times! Their scheme was an East Coast thing!

Ya know, but Im sure it happens all the time with people trying to get something for nothing in this "screw you, Im out for me and only me" world of ours.

This couple did this many times in many states using many stolen identities along the way.

Well the little glass chomping scam was busted (after they had scammed $200,000 along the way.) They didn't pay their medical bills for the glass chomping treatment!

Ya kow maybe they'd try a bug or pull some hair out next time...but to eat glass? Hey folks, is that Fear Factor directors calling for you to make a special glass eating guest appearance?

I Struck Out Shopping Yesterday for Mesh!
I Struck Out Shopping Yesterday for Mesh! magnify

Yesterday I went mesh shopping for something new and revealing to wear to the "Flesh in Mesh" fetish ball that I plan on attending on Friday at Metropolis in downtown Cleveland.

As you know, I do have LOTS of clothes I could wear. I'm just looking for something new and possibly even more eye catching. I know Me?...pushing the envelope...yeah, that's right. You push it girl! You will never confuse Sheena for a homely looking librarian.

So I stopped by the Ambiance store in Mentor to see if they had anything to spin Sheena's little exposing exhibitionist "leave nothing to the imagination" mind. Unfortunaltey, they didn't. I was bummed. But it was a very pleasurable shopping experience nonetheless.

The sales clerks at the Mentor Ambiance on this Monday nigh were SO helpful and nice, I actually felt sorry they didn't have anything I liked. As I was trying on various dresses, I was telling them that they should attend the fetish ball themselves. We looked at a few mesh items, and even a few fishnet selections and talked about whether or not lace falls into the mesh category. I tried on one flourescent green mesh dress that didn't cover my butt, but believe it or not that was just a tad TOO short (at least to walk in to the fetish ball anyways)! I guess what I need is an exotic dancer clothing store where they have more clothing items as opposed to cute and sexy lingerie (which they did have lots of I might add)!

I did end up buying a pair of brown thigh highs as I didn't have a pair and as much as I wear tans and browns frequently, it was a buy that will get plenty of use. So I didnt leave empty handed So thanks ladies for the gracious and absolutely first class customer service! Little did ya know that being so nice and trying to take care of your customers SO well, that you'd make the Sheena blog.

The search continues...this is not a thrift search either...I need mesh. My Flesh in Mesh!

Manual Labor Just SUCKS!
Manual Labor Just SUCKS! magnify

I tell ya Im just not made out to be a laborer. Im a desk gal at best - I need the office, air conditioning, and nice office clothes. I'm not a t shirt and shorts working in 90 degree heat and humidity sweating my little ass off getting dirty...call me a priss, I dont care.

Today I spent ALL freaking day tearing off a old wood deck and replacing it. Im beat, Im sore, Im sunburn, Im cut, and Im just not a happy camper doing this - other than saving some money in trying to do it myself!

Im so damn sore Im not even gonna do anything tonight but probably lay on the damn floor in air conditioning and be miserable with my sunburn and aching little muscles.

Cheers to desk jobs and paper cuts! I knew I went to college for some reason! It SHOULD HAVE BEEN to be able to pay people for doing what I did today adn what I dont want to do! And that's not a knock against people that are manual laborers. That line of work just isnt for me. Im much more positioned in the line of sight of a willing and able photographer.

A Sad Day In Cleveland - Truffles Closes
A Sad Day In Cleveland - Truffles Closes magnify

Reknown Truffles Pastries and Coffee Shop -one of my all time favorite places - closed its doors on Wednesday 8/1/07. What a sad sad day. It was a black day to be honest. Truffles located at 112th and Clifton on Cleveland's near west side was a landmark.

I'd hang there once a week! Heck, I'm sure I have referred to them in some blogs I've written. It was such an accepting shop owned by one of the nicest people you will ever come across in Dan Sheppard. The staff were the absolute best always willing to give you some friendly chat and a free smile with every purchase. Their flowered outdoor front patio was a west side landmark and one of the most enjoyable places to sit and relax with a warm mocha on a summer eve!

Their pastries were award winning and some of the best in the Cleveland market. The shop was acclaimed to be one of the best in Cleveland according to Cleveland magazine.

And today it is dark and vacant. Their failure was probably three fold. First, it was a casualty of the increased national coffee shop competition with a Starbucks right down the street. There has been a general decline in the economy while pinches people's discretionery income. And finally, to some extent there was even a general decline in the immediate neighborhood from what it once was. Combined, these factors were fatal.

Regardless, seeing that place close put a tear in my eye. And I'm not kidding. It was more than just a coffee shop. They were extended family to me. They were friends.

Lee and I would go there frequently on Saturday afternoons. It's like you just lost some very good friends. It goes without saying that we did lose one very good business.

Never camera shy, yes that's me enjoying a mocha inside Truffles.

Truffles - you were one of the best. I'll sincerely miss you!

Bridges - One of My Ultimate Fears
Bridges - One of My Ultimate Fears magnify

What tragically happened in Minneapolis yesterday just scares the shit out of me - afterall bridges just plain out scare me. I guess we all have our fears, but for me going over any kind of bridge (bigger bridges particularly over water) will impose fear in me like nothing else.

I'm kinda ok here in Cleveland despite several bridges around the City, it's out of town bridges like say the ones out in Toledo or any of them going into Canada. Yikes. My palms actually get sweaty - and thats not a good sweat mind you!

I do not fear flying and have no fear of heights - it's just a bridge thing. I could not watch the news. It was bad enough to read about it in the paper this morning. That hits home with me!

As drivers we take a few things for granted like the cars will all go in the same direction. Or maybe that the road will be there in front of us! And if you are up high, and the road isnt there, well that story is not going to end pretty.

So yesterday and today I offer prayers to those that lost their lives or those that will be emotionally scarred as a result of such a horrible accident.

There's no place like Sheena's happy feet on firm solid ground.
