I am an English teacher in Koriyama, Japan. This page is about my life and my thoughts on the world.
I haven't spent too much time here recently. I need to make a come back because I like this site. I have a blog if you want to catch up with my life.
I hardly use this site anymore but I'll make a point of visiting sometimes.
I often blog here if you want to read updates:
I have been busy the last couple weeks and that is a good thing. I have been working a lot. I need the extra cash so that is a good thing. I am glad I've had more classes. I have my new apartment now. Some things are being remodeled so I'll move in the first week in November.
I am really looking forward to Thanksgiving just so I'll have some time off. My school has classes on that Saturday but I asked for the day off so I can have a 4 day weekend. That'll be my longest "vacation" since early April when I first came back to Dallas. Usually I just have one day off a week and I am busy doing things that day.
I had to go downtown earlier today. I took the DART train line. While I was in Japan, the bus system in Dallas improved a LOT. However, it hasn't improved as much as it should have. Dallas also has 2 train lines and are in the process of building two more. This is a huge improvement from before. Considering the population of the Dallas/Ft. Worth metro is 2-3 million +, the public transportation system should be a lot better. I'll give Dallas credit where it is due. The public transportation system here has improved a lot in the last 5 years. However, it has a long way to go.
Gas is expensive. Parking downtown is expensive. If I had to go downtown regulary, I'd probably take this train line everytime. I honestly hate driving. I do. If the train/bus system in Dallas was really good, I would never drive. During the 4 years that I was in Asia, I didn't miss driving at all. The key is convenience. In Japan and South Korea, public transportation is convenient. A person doesn't really need a car. In Dallas, actually in all Texas, having a car is a necessity. It is sad.
