This is probably kind of politically incorrect or something,
considering I'm writing this on my Yahoo! blog, but I just have to say:
I am completely and utterly in love with Google Maps. I've spend the
last few hours looking at satellite photos from around North America,
and there is so much cool stuff I thought I'd have to share it with you
guys. Here are a few of the highlights I've found so far:
- Crop patterns (beautiful patterns made from parallel farming lines)
- Harvesting (caught in the middle of drawing the lines!)
- Erosion patterns (zoom in on the road going down left of center – you should see wind turbines)
- Irrigation circles (beautiful semi-abstract designs created by rotating irrigation systems)
- Erosion fractals (more beautiful designs carved with flowing water)
- Squares and circles (colorful abstract art with water and fields)
- Grand Canyon (a hairpin corner in the Grand Canyon)
- BC's patchy coat (unbelievable number of clearcuts in BC's interior)
- Curvy lines (patterns created from trying to farm around a winding river)
- Striatic (massive parallel grooves in rocks near Moab, UT)
