Registered Nurse: now, I am one!
LIFE... personified.
When I graduated from high school, I really did not know what course I wanted to get for college. All I knew back then was that I wanted to be a doctor, a cardiologist in particular and I am happy to realize that I'm a step closer to my dream. Nursing was already becoming a much needed profession at that time around 2003 and due to my mom's insistence, I got convinced into taking up the course. Believe me, her reasons were very much reasonable! You know how mothers are and how convincing they can be for most of the time... and so, here, my story begins.
Four years ago, as I walked the hallways of Cebu Doctors' College ( it wasn't a medical university yet, the 1st one in the country ;)) I found myself in a very strange place. Most of my classmates back in high school chose to just study in Ozamiz but I've always told myself that I wanted to be in another place and meet new sets of people, thus broadening my horizons. So I knew at that very moment that I am starting from scratch here and from scratch it all started...
The first day was, as you well know, introduction of new classmates, getting familiar with everybody's names and faces. Because we have always been a block section, it was quiet easy to make friends because you get to see each other in all your subjects. As expected, I was quietly sittng in one corner, getting acquianted with the new people around me. I was really happy to know most of the were very nice and would not hesitate to make friends with other people, that of course, includes... yours truly.
Yep, my first friend has also become my very bestfriend, Ros, for the last four years.
I was really amazed of how literally talkative and friendly she is! She is the exact person whom everybody would like to be friends with; there's no dull moment with her, most specially when she gets bored! Yep, she can be lethal as hell too.Peace, Ros!
We are both like "sugar and spice mixed with eveything nice!" hahahaha yeah... that's true alright. We bond like sisters and we have this unsual thing that by just looking at each other, we 'd know right away what the other is thinking. We're like B1 and B2! hahaha
to those of you who know who they are.... She is like a rainbow in every storm, someone whom you know, even without telling you, that she'll always be there no matter what and no matter how things will become.I love her to bits!![]()
A lot of things has happend to me in the last four years of my life.... I've shed tears of both joy and sadness, laughed my heart out loud, made a lot of friends; lost some and gained some, learned a lot of lessons and most of all, grew up. Wow... if somebody would ask me to evaluate myself right now, I'd definitely say I have changed a lot, a whole lot... because I have become a better person.Experiences I've had for the last four years molded me to be who I am today and I am forever thankful for all of them; the sacrifices I made worth all worth it.Thank you for all...
Its been four years already right? Wow... time does fly so fast, it still feels like I was a freshman last year; but no... I am about to take another journey into my life, a journey that will determine where I truly belong in this world. My mission in life, the very reason of my existence.I am actually excited to know that, and I've been waiting for this my whole life. I know I'm getting there and in time... oneday, someday.
After the Pinning Ceremony last March 22 and the Graduation Rites last March 25, a brand new chapter in our lives has been opened for all of us.24 of my classmates are in the 1st batch who are taking the June board exams and April 1 starts our review classes. Yes, unfortunately, there is no summer vacation for us this year but I am not bitter with it. I just want to get this over with and hoping against hope that we will all pass! I know well we all deserve to be... and we promise we'll do our very best.
I'd like to extend a heartfelt "thank you" to all those people who believed in me and in what I can do.For all your support and prayers, thank you so much. I couldn't have done it without you guys... I owe this success of mine to all of you. Also, thank you to those people whom I have met along my life's journey, especially to those who have touched me and have become, in one way or another, part of my life. Thank you.... to my friends, I would miss you guys in every single day. I know we won't be able to see each other like we used to but I just hope that the friendship we have built through all these years will last through the sands of time. The moments we had in the past will always be cherished memories in the very core of my heart... thank you so much for everything! ![]()
Lord, Jesus Christ.... for all the blessings You have continuously showered me for the last 20 years of my life. For always being there when I needed You the most, for answering my prayers, for the challenges You have made me experience, for molding me to be who I am today... I know well that thanking you is not enough to let you know how much I truly am thankful for this life of mine. Thank you so much for giving me the chance to experience how it is to truly live and be alive.
And lastly, to the two people who has brought me into this world.... my mommy and daddy... for giving me the world.
I hope I made you proud... ![]()

Twenty years has passed. And so are the fats, the waddling gait, the shrill voice, the scar, and the hair that was always kept by gel. Gone are the days when he stands in front of the mirror and all he could see is the scar the past has brought him. Well, he could have not done it alone. Of course with the aid of magic testosterone pills: Testovey. For whatever reason, he felt the urge to patronize Filipino products, especially from a friend, Havey Dy Seno.
As he prepares to put on his famous metallic cape, he feels the tinged on his heart as he reminisced the times he spent with Katherine Elaine Galanida, famous designer of capes, nurses’ caps and all-around accessories.
And when the curtains were raised, he took center stage and all lights were on him. The crowd gone wild as this superstar starts to sing. Twenty songs after, he makes his final number by surprising the world with his dance grooves as he is joined on stage by the world’s sexiest dancer and winner of numerous Dance Sport contests, Ingrid Alajas. After his final performance, all he could say to himself was “This is what I’ve wanted.” Yet, he knew that there was something else…
One particular member of the audience is a journalist, from the leading broadcasting network, CNN. Being based at Hong Kong, Sherilan Marie Soque went halfway across the world to cover the story of the acclaimed Latino star. Even from a distance, she could see that the person performing onstage was someone from the past. But she couldn’t quite place it in her mind as to whom, where and when. After the concert, a press conference was held and she was one of the lucky reporters to meet the Latino superstar. Her guts and hunches proved her right. It was time to ask questions, she raised her hand and asked: “So Latino Superstar, do you remember me?”
While the limelight shines bright for the superstar, two best friends become the talk of the town. These girls own the premiere night clubs and hot spots at Cebu City, and the famous one, Chades is situated afloat the seas of South Reclamation Area. The two storey hub is built and designed by a tandem of rising nurse-architect Lucheska Marie Sta. Ana and nurse-engineer Arvidas Nikos Lim.
Known for their distinct taste with party concepts, the two best friends are chosen to host the biggest fashion show in the Philippines. And it’s not just an ordinary fashion show, but it will showcase the best nursing uniforms from Nightingale’s era to the present.
The day of the fashion show came. Models, VIP’s, politicians and their wives, and renowned athletes flocked the show. First to arrive at the red carpet is full time wife, mother and socialite Madel Manuta, in her seductive figure, accompanied by prominent Dr. Gonzales, her long-time lover.
Following them is the feminist, women’s right reformer and wife of Cebu City Mayor Paolo Sanchez, Maricon Esperanza-Sanchez. Behind her is the vice mayor’s wife, Veda Klarina Cantero, in a sensuous gown that brings out her hour-glass figure. And never leaving her side is a lady in a voluptuous figure. Well, who could that be? Oh, it’s her long time best friend and partner in crime, Victor “Vicky” Gaviola. Thanks of course to Dr. Edacyn Tan, leading plastic surgeon based at CDUH.
And to arrive late yet certainly not behind her chosen field of sports, flag football gold medalist for five consecutive Olympic Games, most of all winner for the perfect and full butt, Rozamen Rigodon.
At the strike of thirty past seven, everyone was on their seats as the night’s host begins the event. With that DJ-like voice, Ronil Monsanto, opens the event casually. He is also a world traveler and hosts his own nature show at Discovery Channel.
Out to come the runway first, the supermodel that ousted Naomi Campbell and hated by Heidi, is Andrea Bianca Armedilla. Wearing the nurse’s uniform with added details, she struts perfectly and strikes a pose to the many photographers.
Another model goes out dressed in white jumper and pink blouse is Jizelle Maglungsod. With contracts from Ford, Victoria Secret and Valentino, she broke Kate Moss’s record for the shortest supermodel.
Next in line is former beauty queen and mother Angelica Kristy Limcangco, as she models the new nurse’s scrub suit for OR and DR that comes with built in micro chip indicating if you’ve been unsterile.
The crowd was struck in awe as Jan Vincent Visda, model and action star, makes his way to the catwalk wearing the new line of male nursing uniform, equipped with white leather jacket and leather brief courtesy of Cucumber’s, the new brand of male undies especially designed by Fritz Alain Pepino.
The paparazzi gone wild, as models walked the runway, but not for the main photographer of the show. Instead, he seemed not to be taking pictures at all. Wearing his sleek eyeglasses, leather jacket and with arms crossed, he patiently waits for the final supermodel, the night’s, star, to come out and ramp. Alas! Lights were focused and the crowds were silenced. Joseph Andrian Siriban prepares his Canon EOS 500, as he equips his camera with the right lens and ready to take a shot of the lady that he has chased for years, yet never seemed to catch her.
With eyes sparkling and hair flowing perfectly, she walked the runway with ease, confidence and pride. Time stops with every step she takes. Angel Wella Luzano appeared like an ethereal princess. Regal yet innocent… and BANG! was the sound instead of an applause. Everybody panicked. All heads were turned towards the direction of the photographer but then he was nowhere to be found.
Jessica Filoteo, the designer, was shocked. She thought she would surprise the world with her best nurse’s uniform collection. Yet, after the incident, it was the other way around.
The sound of siren from the rushing ambulance filled Chades. ERUF was first on the scene and Genaro Ligan, together with his team of rescuers do first aid to the victim. He was assisted by Mirzi Joy Mahipos, the prime nurse of the agency. Angel was placed on a stretcher and was rushed to the hospital.
The ambulance arrived at Mary Rose Hospital, owned by Dr. Cyril Pacaña. She, together with her husband, founded a premier hospital that specializes on neuro-surgery cases at Cebu City.
ER doors swung open. MD’s approached the unconscious victim from the stretcher. ER nurses were busy clearing the way. Press has flocked the hospital as they are eager to know the situation and be the first to deliver the news.
Leader of the trauma team, Dr. Melonie June Patalinghug, together with Dr. Anne Pamela Panganiban, internist, attended on the patient. Each was giving her own orders while giving due attention to the patient and maintaining the caring care concept they had learned when they were at CDU-CN. They were highly assisted by ER nurses Felice Camacho and Anna Katrina Base. They were extremely trained ER nurses who had undergone trainings at different hospitals worldwide and had joined rescue missions across Asia. To save the victim from further complications, Dr. Patalinghug then orders a stat removal of the bullet.
It happened that the chief nurse, Honeylaine Sering, has finished making her rounds and on her way to get ready to go home to her three kids, when she passed by the stretcher that carried Angel to the OR. She recognized the former classmate and said a silent prayer. She immediately called on OR supervisor Jofanie Parba to prepare a theater right away.
OR nurses were diligently preparing for the stat case. Jofanie made sure that she assigns the top nurses to assist in this case. She chose Kristine Hazel Seto and Zizzi Garcia to be the scrub nurse and circulating nurse respectively. She knew that they were equipped with the right knowledge and skills to handle the case. As the patient arrives, everyone knew that this would be the start of a very busy night at the OR. Dr. Karen Louisse Ricafort, anesthesiologist on duty that night, inducts the anesthesia on the patient. Seconds after, Dr. Roswitha Alfonsa Tauschek, head of the surgery department at Mary Rose Hospital enters the theater, examines the patient, gives her orders and starts to scrub. As the surgery takes place, every second counts as the team was trying to fight for this precious lady’s life.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, as Sheila’s one-on-one interview with the Latino superstar ends, she receives a phone call from the Hong Kong Center. She is informed of the news from her homeland and knowing that Latino superstar would be interested with this, she tells him of the accident and the rumors as to who caused the incident.
Right after, Latino superstar was left alone at his dressing room. He was shaken up. He read the latest broadcast from the internet. He knew he has to go back to mend the scars from the past. He booked a ticket and was on his way to Cebu.
On the plane, he was shocked to see Dawn Theresa Ngujo. Tall, sexy, slim and now with clear sooth skin, she demonstrates on the safety measures with grace. Latino superstar was pleased with what he saw.
During his stop over at Leonardo da Vinci Airport, the Superstar sat quietly at the terminal. He was busy reminiscing his old days when a missionary passed by. He instantly recognized the person as he felt the air of superiority surrounding the priest. He was the same old classmate, he thought. Rev. Fr. John Daryl Patalinghug, now off to continue his vocation in Turkey, did not notice him. As he continued his advent, he opened the day’s newspaper and found out more shocking events and familiar people in the world headlines:
Mabel Gimenez, first naturalized Japanese citizen to be part in the Japanese parliament.
Prince William marries Maria Nobelle Therese Señoron, a Filipina nurse working for the royal family.
Admiral Ramon Ernest Frio of the US Navy takes control of the Chinese Sea.
Cialenga Gabrielle Rosales bags best actress in the Tony Awards in her performance as Cossette in Les Miserables.
New York Times No. 1 best-selling author Kris Bernadette Teves is out to release a new novel entitled, Getting Over You.

Kristi-Ian Zaragosa leads the penguins in the actual Happy Feet dance number to rescue them from extinction.
Human to mermaid transformation now possible – with first successful patient, Ivy Sanciangco.
The Superstar couldn’t believe what he read. It seems like the people he used to laugh with and piss are now very unreachable. His astonishment was still at its peak when he read a little ad at the last page of the newspaper which goes:
