And Zook is not just local. Its about your leisure, your music, your tastes, your choices, your neighbourhood, your friends....

Friends ?

Yes. Your friends give you the best references, and beyond a point can give you a way better answer than even we can. So if Zook cannot dig out the answer, it helps pass it on to your friends.

You can create groups of people you hang out with for various different things - work, bowling, golf, whatever. Your contacts and each set of people can be your 'expert circle' for answers and advice (and soon we'll enrich the data for the entire community based on stuff you find out and share). You can both ASK these contacts about choices, or information, and TELL them about what you like (whether or not you found it on Zook).

you : korean kgla
zook :No Matches Found
ASK your friends?
send "ASK <contact list> <question/comment>"
you : ask amit, 9878709878 Is there a good Korean place in Blore ?

amit : Tell nopes theres a couple of good Japanese ones tho

You can ask more than one friend, and we'll summarize their responses too.

Need WAP ?

Zook works fully featured on both WAP as well as SMS ( ZOOK/Z on 3030) !!
SMS is charged at whatever your operator's premium SMS rates are.

Next time you need to look, Zook it!

Rgds,
TeamZook @ Ziva

Official Google Blog: Do you "Google?"
Official Google Blog: Do you "Google?"

A little unnecessary, if you ask me. Almost sounds like they're hyperventilating. I mean it should be Yahoo who  must worry about people 'googling' on Yahoo Search.

Most people anyway just say 'google it' not 'google it on Y/G/whatever'

Pointless.

(G spreadsheets rock, btw)

Vande Mata(ra)m
Now the Sikhs are angry and wont sing it. Earlier the Muslims were. Recently the Christians took umbrage at Da Vinci, and assorted Hindu orgs often get angry about Gods on tees.

Whats with the whole taking offence thingy ?

The current issue :

I found the Guru Granth Sahib derived song in RDB just wonderful, and sing it often. Makes me a Sikh ? (What if it does, is that a bad thing ?) Innumerable Bollywood songs go Masha-Allah - is that a religious invocation of the lords name ? I used to positively enjoy the sevai during Id (and miss it, nobody calls me for that anymore), and *all* kids in our colony celebrated holi and diwali, irrespective of religious denomination.

That was a good thing. Not a permanent state of imagined siege inside the head, as is so often the case with all these folks. Whats your big insecurity about ?

Do you feel threatened by Sikhism because you love Chana Bhatura,  or the women in the house wear salwar suits, or there's a lot of Bhangra around you ? Can you not appreciate a plantain leaf meal without fearing that the Southies are taking over your life and culture and all that ? Does you love for Pizza or Pasta destroy your Indian roots so easily ? Must you necessarily interpret Vande Mataram in a religious light, and choose to ignore how beautiful its words are (that one positive thing that came of this issue, a lot of people understood for the first time ever the words of this and other songs/anthem) - in the context of the nation ?

I would love to be a Sikh for the amalgamation of teachings from all religions of the world, Buddhist for the basic foundation of the religion,  Christian for the whole feel of the Church, mid-east/Muslim for the lovely sounds that persian or urdu produce, and the hospitality that one hears tales about in Western Pak and Iran, and Hindu for the flexibility to be anything.

Whats the big deal with "my" groups vs "theirs" ?

Religion is essentially some philosophies that got popular.  All of them would have to be grounded in more or less positive thoughts for that.  The details differ, and the "customs" that the followers evolved over time more so (Buddhism being a massive case in point), but the basic thoughts are a really good study.

The circumstances the 'books' were written in often dictate the form - reading them too literally does nobody any good.

And getting insulted by every "other" thing is probably not spiritually sound at all - its more a manifestation of a mob mentality, a thug-ism if you will. And every religious/ethnic group seems to have this problem now.

I will continue to sing "Ek Onkar..." from RDB - it feels so awesome - without worrying about any loss of identity. I hope these bozos learn to appreciate the 'other' , and make it their own, too.

And this being a free country, there still is the right to not sing anything if you don't feel like it, including the anthem. Forcing things down gullets totally sucks, as much as the narrow minded and intolerant reasons for not doing those things.

Update:
GreatBong happened to write on this today too - and some very nice thoughts on that post:

Loss of thoughts, words
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/street-experiences/16508-roadside-murder-how-re...
What *can* one say to this ? What do you do when this happens to you ? How can we call ourselves civilized ? Or is one being too prissy - is there too much of this all around the world to make a big deal  of this ? Is lettting oneself get desensitized or even cynical the way out ?

How can one not make a big deal of someone being killed ?

Update

Access to that post's been disabled, and thats probably good for the person who reported having witnessed a stabbing by the roadside on the way to work - cops were not to be found at the usual spots, and the emergency '100' did not work from her cellphone. A nightmare to actually live through.
