The one constant in my needlepoint custom work over the last 36 years..( good Lord that sounds so old)...is that Pooh Bear , has been popular...he never seems to disappear....I learned to read with the Pooh books...and I never get tired of Pooh in any form....he reminds me of my childhood , and my needlepoint training , when I apprenticed in Georgetown...and of course, when I have honey on anything... when we were children...my mother would take us to the National Zoo in Dc and for a treat we would each get a big red balloon...upon returning home , we four, would stand in the front yard and release the balloons, and watch them dance and float off into space...we would all stand still until,l we couldn't see them anymore... a big red balloon always reminds me of Pooh ........funny thing , at 57, I would still get a big kick out of watching one take flight.....I

might just have to treat myself this Summer....

I was looking at some examples of composites, that I have painted over the last ten years ,an it occured to me ,why this type of custom order is so popular...it is the modern version of a sampler...that dates back to the beginnings of tapestry ...these pieces combine the elements of one's life , making them totally unique and very personal......... hard at times for the designer to combine all the elements of such a diverse subject matter into one design tastfully......I don't know why ,this has not occured to me before...I am getting ready to start a huge tree of life composite piece ,that combines two families , a massive project ...many people do belts that serve the same purpose... but you are very limited by space, and in this and only this instance ....the bigger the waist, the better...lol...

This is a great way to create great memory, for a student...just think how great to have a pillow for every School ...to display in your home, for your children to enjoy and ask...Mom.or Dad...tell me a Flint School story...lol...
