Squiggee is headed to Columbus ,Ohio for the annual TNNA show..exciting !
I am one of a dying breed. The Needlepoint artist that strives to keep alive the art of the fine, stitch painted canvas.
This custom piece of needlepoint I just painted, has the flavor of old crewel work.
Crewel was big when I first started in the business in 1972. A design was outlined onto linen and the stitcher embrodied it with wool. I was very effective and i designed large bench covers, curtains and cornices, bedspreads and the many chair seats and chair covers. This design is the best of both worlds...needlpoint with the look of crewel.
The customer picked muted colors and the background is to be a deep creme/taupe
adding to the period look...like it was a treasure that was stored in an attic trunk...lost but re-discovered.
