From the Friday Five (my answers in purple)

In celebration of tomorrow being Friday the 13th, how about we do a rather spooooooky Friday Five?

1) Do you believe in ghost, spectres, spirts, etc and have you ever seen one?

One can no more believe in such things as one can believe in an apple. Either they exist or they do not. As of today there currently is not, nor has there ever been any credible evidence of their existence whatsoever.

2) Are you superstitious?

Nooo.

3) Would you walk by a graveyard after dark or would you take another path?

Depends on my mood. I still have tremendously realistic and gruesome nightmares so I often become overwhelmingly terrified at stupid things. If I am feeling like I want to prove to myself just how ridiculously irrational such a fear is, I might deliberately walk by one.

4) Do you believe certain days of the year are more apt to have 'bad things happen' than other days?

Again, poppycock. Either certain days are more apt or they are not. One cannot believe in something that can be measured. It is either so or is not. My understanding is that all studies that have been done on such phenomena have proven the idea is an invention.

5) Friday the 13th - thoughts? Possible or just a bunch of hype?

Yes. Use this opportunity to point out the absurd. I've deliberately broken mirrors, walked under ladders, etc. and had many discussions with my small children about the silliness of such ideas as well as there historical context. Continued propagation of such claptrap is exactly why more than 80% of us 'believe' in a so-called life after death and something like 70% of us still think evolution is unproven. We simply believe what the preacher tells us. Many of us refuse to understand that evolution is no more a theory than the theory of electromagnetism or thermodynamics. If we could only learn the history of why we think this way we might be able to overcome such stupidity. (I urge everyone to read and study Dante and the history of the church's stance on intelligent inquiry. Think, flat earth, Ptolemaic system and Copernicus, Galileo, etc.)

The church has tried to force us to accept the crazy notion that Faith is a better revealer of Truth than Reason, though it has been proven wrong at every turn. It is high time we though off its yoke and learn to use our Reason as the best revealer of what is True.

Remember to play it's all quite simple: copy the questions in your blog, comment here...

.... on The Friday Five with the link to your blog (or if you need help just comment here and I'll find your link for you) and I'll put the link to your answers on the blog. There is no time limit LOL just have fun !

Your Gluttony Quotient: 26%
You have a pretty good relationship with food - you enjoy it, but you don't go overboard.
You've struck the perfect balance between gluttony and self control.

Entry for October 07, 2006

It's late, my Lunesta is kicking in, and I've got hayfever so this is not likely to impress.

I decided to use this as my public blog for several reason.  One I'd like to keep my more anonymous blog as anonymous as possible for awhile.   But I'm ready to try something a little more public.  I may eventually merge the two.  Another reason that I wanted to do this is that I got a message from Thryn, clicked on it and found out she has be going on her blog long and strong.  And it looks great!  This is also a way for my family to share things a bit more.  My brother J has said that he though it would be a neat idea for each of our family members to blog and share with each other.
