You are now poised to kill, perhaps to die,
to perpetrate the ultimate offense,
to plead, perhaps, the warrior's defense:
The crime is mutual; not mine then why.
You want, of all times, this time not to lie,
or be beguiled by righteous innocence,
or find in such a nightmare common sense,
or give to grief some comforting reply.
You know that war is evil, yet you must
engage in acts unspeakable and cruel
to serve some oft-miscalculated end.
And though the cause is criminal or just,
you need not be a villain or a fool
to yield to furies you need not defend.

But you must do what you must,

You may have to destroy to defend,

The crime is not ours, but not to act,

Would be the greater crime than the

Crime itself, those acts evil, cruel

And which evoke such unspeakable furies.

For the time is maybe not ripe,

As yet….

The field not ripe as yet to be scathed

Through…

Therefore let’s wait for a while,

Let’s procrastinate for some more time,

As we always do, let’s make us look as fools,

Some more, till such time as the dam bursts,

And the water flows, giving hope to those

Parched lips once more, those empty hopes yet again.

For yet the time is not right,

For yet the dam is not too high,

For yet the water is not enough,

So that those parched hopes get flowing,

So that those empty eyes flow with tears of joy.

Swarm over, Death!

Come, bombs and blow to smithereens
Those air-conditioned, bright canteens,
Tinned fruit, tinned meat, tinned milk, tinned beans,
Tinned minds, tinned breath.

Mess up the mess they call a town-
A house for ninety-seven down
And once a week a half a thousand
For twenty years.

Come, friendly bombs and fall on Singur
To get it ready for the plough.
The cabbages are coming now;
The earth exhales.

My blood, my payments
My blood, my payments magnify

Take my blood. Take my conscience

Take my death shroud and

The remnants of my body.

Take photographs of my corpse at the grave, lonely.

Send them to the world, for them to laugh, to smirk, to enjoy,

To the judges and to those that judge before the sentence itself.

To the people of conscience, to those hypocrites

Send them to the principled men and the fair-minded.

And let them bear the guilty burden, before the world,

Of this innocent soul. For they have the terrorist behind them, the fanatic beside them, and the hypocrite in them...

Let them bear the burden, before their children and before history,

Of this wasted, sinless soul, of this winless refugee at home,

Of this soul which has suffered at the hands of the “protectors of peace”.

Of this soul which has suffered at the hands of the “guardians of democracy”.

Let them liberate my soul, so that I may come back to redeem it from them, through them and therefore redeem their souls!

Savita, u said - My point is that WB has been very rich state in terms of resources, also people are well read and educated, highly cultured at the same time. The state had an early start in terms of Kolkata is the oldest and first metro of India. How can citizens allow it to deteriorate to this level?

My response - The bright boys almost never turn their promise into results because theory is different from HARD REALITIES.

In spite of various problems, one thing major states realize today, that in a democracy and in a vibrant one such as India, ONLY RESULTS matter and nothing else. Therefore, they get REWARDS by giving RESULTS...Otherwise its bye bye in the next elections.
That is because there is intense competition at the top and today its results NOT IDEOLOGY that drives the voters.

However in Bengal, its really the other way around, since the Left came to power, their only motivation was to keep their landless gentry and the minority vote bank in their pockets and what better way to do, but through NON-INDUSTRIALISATION, as that would feed the resentment the poor have towards the rich.

HOWEVER, since Buddha Bhattacharya came into power, he tried to change this, with the result that Madame Mamata, took upon herself to occupy the role that the CPI (m) had vacated, that of the mentor of the landless and the minorities - and therefore opposed all the CM's initiatives towards industrialization - U have the UGLY results and the steady erosion of left's vote banks.

Today, what were seeing in WB is the "disadvantages" of democracy - where parties will go to any lengths to grab power, common people be dammed!

So sad, so pathetic...

Tour Itinerary

1st day -----: Arrival in Moscow. Meeting and assistance by our Moscow representative. City View on the way to Indian Restaurant for Lunch followed by Hotel Check In. Visit to Street VDNXA and later Russian Circus. Dinner at Indian Restaurant followed by bus excursion to see Moscow at night and back to Hotel for overnight stay.

2nd day-----: Breakfast at Hotel. Excursion by Coach and English speaking guide to visit old and Modern Moscow including Kremlin, Red square, Armory Chamber (Museum) etc, beautiful Streets and Panorama of Moscow from Vorobievi Gori (Sparrow Hills), River cruise/boating etc. Lunch and Dinner at Indian restaurant. Later transfer to Railway Station to connect Train for overnight journey to St. Petersburg.

3rd day-----: Meeting and assistance at St. Petersburg Railway station. Enjoy scenery of picturesque City Tour of St. Petersburg . Check In at Hotel. Excursion to Hermitage – the second largest art museum in the world. Lunch at Indian restaurant. Perter & Paul Fortress- historical core of St. Petersburg and was the burial place of the Russian Emperors.Shopping of precious and semi precious stones/gems and jewelry. Dinner at Indian Restaurant followed by bus excursion to see St. Petersburg at night and return to Hotel for night stay.

4th day-----: Breakfast at Hotel. Meeting with English Speaking Guide and depart buy coach for Peterhof – The Grand Palace and Park complex. Lunch at Indian Restaurant. St.Isaac Cathedral-formaly main and largest cathedral (1015 meter high) , it is masterpiece of French architect. River Cruise. After Dinner at Indian Restaurant drive to Railway Station for overnight journey to Moscow.

5th day------: Meeting and assistance on arrival at Moscow railway station. Half day Sightseeing tour with English speaking Guide to Sergiev Posad- famous for its monastery. It has been the biggest and oldest religious and cultural center of the Russian state. Lunch at Indian Restaurant. Check in at Hotel. Later walk along Arbat Street, pedestrian zone of shops (jewelry, antique, souvenirs etc), cafes and snack-bars. Dinner at Indian restaurant. Overnight at hotel

6th day -------: Breakfast at Hotel. Meeting with English Speaking Guide. Poklonnaya hill with museum. Lunch at Indian Restaurant. Transfer to Airport to connect return flight for New Delhi.
