“If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow, why, oh why, can’t WE?” This is Pete Seeger s version of the ending of Over The Rainbow. He replaced I with We .
Figuring out how manhood is nurtured and developed.
This picture sings to me, sings to me of my time growing up in my father’s iron foundry. The man on the left is much like my Mr. Doctorman and of course me on the right. I value the love I found with the men in the foundry above all love I have known: Boylovers. No one will ever take that from me or them even though they are all now dead. Even though they are all now dead their love lives and now lives in you dear reader: Passion.
The title of the above picture is “Foundrymen At The Bistro”.

This week The University of Oklahoma presented the Oprea “The Marriage of Figaro”. It was a smash, meaning wonderful. The girl who played the amorous boy Cherubino nailed BOY all in capital letters. From the 18th Century forward to this time the creators of this opera going all the way back to the original story writer knew how to keep the attention of us queers in the audience, especially the ones who had to attend with their wives. They especially got a respite from the oppression we live in right down to this moment in time. How many of us have to kill ourselves before we achieve our right to peruse happiness as promised in the Constitution of the USA, even boys?
The only thing I would bring forward in The Marriage of Figaro would be the relationship of Cherubino and The Gardner. We all know where Cherubino learned his amorous behavior 3 or 4 years before the day of the Opera when he was 12 or 13: In The Gardner’s cabin.
Last night I saw the new Gus Van Sant movie “Milk”. Harvey Milk said if we are ever going to make progress we must come out wherever we are, whoever we are no matter what. How many of us are living double lives, even me? This week I was on the bus to the Lake Thunderbird area of my town Norman, OK USA. There is a Gambling Casino out there. A lady rider told me that today was Man’s Day at the Casino, that I would get $10.00 free to gamble with and that the place would be crawling with women. Why did I not say that it would be the men I would be interested in? I should have right then and there and said that they weren’t really what I would be interested in but it would be their young son’s this summer on the beaches and in the recreation areas of the lake. Maybe I wanted to stay alive and not have the police called on me huh?
At the end of the Opera in the Grand Finale Cherubino and The Gardner were arm in arm while Cherubino had his other arm around the waist of his age mate girlfriend. Wonder what that meant?
A delightful evening at the Oprea Harvey. Much like the one you had the day before you were shot to death in cold blood by a 20th Century Sex Enforcer much like the 21st Century Sex Enforcers in our towns, neighborhoods and families even on the bus to the lake that I will not be able to go to after November because of a new Registered Sex Offender Law working its way through the Oklahoma State Legislature that will prevent me from going there. If you live in Oklahoma you are permitting this even if it is by your silence. I didn’t see you in the Committee Meeting where it was passed. Heck I bet you didn’t even know there was a Committee Meeting. Wonder if there was one in your state?
To Paraphrase Harvey Milk: My name is Will Decker. I am here to recruit you.

Yesterday afternoon I watched my new copy of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSLzc2zMCcQ&feature=related Murmur of The Heart by French Director Louis Malle. His brother Vincent did an explanation of it in the special effects section of the DVD I own. He said what most upset people was that it had a happy ending. The boy and the mom had sex. He said in Hollywood there would have had to have been a moralistic ending. Someone would have had to have been punished. The mom would have been sent back to Italy (The Lucky Italians). The boy to an Island with monks (The Lucky Monks).
Up above is a picture from the movie as Laurent (14) is asked by his friend (Younger) on a Boy Scout Campout if he can sleep next to him. Childhood is never innocent. We have been lied to over and over and over again. When are we ever going to wake up or will we? I think this is the question Louis is asking in the film Murmur of The Heart.
Barack Obama yesterday said: "The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works".
When I went to bed prior to Inauguration Day after going to the Martin Luther Day Events in Oklahoma City I decided the best place for me to be for the Inauguration would be at The Freedom Center with those who had given so much for freedom. I sure did not want to be by myself.
I was not disappointed. http://www.flickr.com/photos/10836001@N00/sets/72157612778564425/
I was with people who risked all not with people who simply theorize and talk.
All of Us or None of Us.

PS: The only way to make government work is W. Edwards Deming's "SYSTEM OF PROFOUND KNOWLEDGE". W
This week I found a great movie by way of the London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival. I ordered it from Amazon France. You can get it much cheaper via Amazon.com but you have to use the French Name in the look-up. Cockles & Muscles (Cote D'Azur ). I got the original French version with English subtitles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVnmQXWvMy4
When I reflected upon it after my second viewing it came through to me how repressed our lives are, how I have repressed mine so much I forgot these feelings, these guides to life.
When we get a level playing field via Dr. Deming’s “System of Profound Knowledge” we will be able to rid ourselves of repression: Onward.
