Velupillai Prabhakaran in Death: The photo of Tamil Tiger leader Velupillai Prabhakaran in death still amazes me in its utter finality of a lost and violent cause.

I pray that Sri Lanka can now move forward in its quest to build a multi-ethnic, multi-faith society.

Recalling Jan. 19, 2007 - When I Endorsed Barack Here: One year, nine months, and seventeen days ago I endorsed Barack Obama on this very blog.

Two things stand out from those early days: I endorsed Barack in spite of living in New York City where the leading candidate was an incumbent United States Senator and where her supporters were strong and possibly vindictive.

And I endorsed Barack by stressing his background as the then largely-unknown candidate who was under attack for things that I knew personally to be untrue. For example, he attended a public elementary school in Jakarta that I knew was not a jihadist school - as it was a sister public school to the one my adopted son Mathew attended when he lived in Jakarta.

My support of Barack's positions, including ending the illegal war in Iraq that was waged by a son to avenge his father's defeat as much as to protect American corporate interests, and creating a health care system for all America, was secondary to just vouching for him as a human being.

I wanted to say having a global father is a blessing and not strange, growing up in Jakarta is normal and not terrorist, and living in Hawaii is as American as growing up in Ohio like I did. How could Fox News misrepresent this?

My fears are that once elected, Barack -- like John Fitzgerald Kennedy before him -- will fall to the powers that be. May God protect Barack Hussein Obama, new leader of the United States of America - and today new leader of the free world. - Jim Luce, New York City
