Maybe you didn't notice the little clickable arrow icon (some folks call it a norgie) next to the Olympics news module on the front page of Yahoo! Apparently, some folks are bummed and annoyed about seeing results on the web, before they've had a chance to live the drama on their big(ger) TV screen.

They'll be glad to know they can "hide" the module (which lives below the fold in my browser) by clicking the upward pointing arrow, and reopen it at any time.

this appears to be browser-based (cookie'd?) and not determined by login.

thought someone out there would want to know and share the info...

Schmap
Is this a cool mashup a scalable business model or a some sort of spammy ruse? It looks interesting, but I can't decide... Here's the photo  they want to feature.  (It's one I'm pleased with also--from a cold august day at a conference in the city)

What do you think? They've got a pretty sophisticated system for harvesting photos and getting permission from cc license holders... Please advise.

Plum blossom season in my garden
Plum blossom season in my garden magnify
makes this one of the most magically pink times of year in my backyard. Even Sky is excited. Plum blossoms fall like snowflakes, and mix with the scent of jasmine and meyer lemons. Birds congregate and sing. This past weekend I added solar lanterns with cool white LEDs that look like moonglow.

will unique IDs be hot in 2006?
a pithy bit from David Weinberger, international man of miscellany: "Web 2.0 takes what were monolithic apps and breaks them apart so they can be stitched together in new ways.
Tags break apart the world of hyperlinked pages so that we can pull them together around meanings that we, the readers, supply.

But none of this restitching is possible without thread. That's where unique IDs come in..."
