In Memory of "Little Shorty Man" magnify
Little Shorty Man, was born premature June 14th and passed in the early morning hours of June 17th. Since he didn't get his moms first milk(she had none, and is very sick) his chances of making it,were very slim, but you know I tried like hell little guy.

We loved you while you were with us "little shorty",and I will never forget your little pink face.Image

The Head Bangers Ball
The Head Bangers Ball magnify
This is a pic of me from I think 1989, when my favorate passtime was drinking, doing massive amounts of drugs and getting the police to chase me....wish I could run like that now! Hell I wish i just looked like that again now!

About a year after this pic was taken, I became another statistic, not drug death( I'm typing this now),but a teenage mother. It was the best thing that ever happened to me, it straightened my ass out real quick.

Looking back at this picture reminds me that teenagers have their heads so far up their ass, it sufficates rational thinking.

As you get older, your head keeps moving down and eventually you see more light and get more air. This is a long process, and every now and again you might trip and jam your head back up your ass  too far.

Does your head ever fully come out of your ass? Only time will tell, but I think in my family we genetically stop with our heads midway out of our asses.

I feel sorry for my kids

Sam I Am
Sam I Am magnify
Sammy captured my heart about 2.5 years ago at work. He was at the clinic for urinary obstruction, and doing well. He was a VERY difficult patient! He would hiss, growl and snort at you, when you walked by,and while giving therapy he would try to bite you LOL. (I'm a sucker for cats like this)

Sammy was treated and released. About 3 days later I came into work and found him back, not because he was ill again, but for euthanasia(his second caretakers) didn't want to deal with his problem.) He was about 2 at the time, although his attitude was horrible we hesitated and did not put him down. We had 3 other unwanted cats in the clinic at that time also (which were nice). While we wish we could save every unwanted cat,we can't,and Sammy's time was running out.

That day two of the unwanted cats got lucky and got homes. After the clinic closed and everything was quiet, I talked to Sammy and told him that if he didn't change his attitude,he wasn't going to find a home because not many people want a crabby cat. He snorted at me.Image
I had to leave for a board meeting and returned later to finish my work. I was caring for a cat in a cage next to Sammy, when Sammy reached through the cage and touched me with his paw-then hissed at me when I asked him what he wanted.
Even though he was hissing and snorting,he kept reaching his paw out to touch me through the cage, so I decided to open the cage to try to pet him(and hoped he wouldnt bite me!)

He didn't bite me,he still hissed, growled and snorted, but responded well to me petting his head, and that is how he stole my heart. I wrote on his card DON"T EUTHANIZE and planned to take him home the next day.

He hissed, growled and snorted all the way home that night. I set up a place for him in a seperate room from the other cats. As soon as I opened the carrier door  it was like a brought home a different cat. He was SOOOOO HAPPY! He was headbutting and rubbing against me,doing the "Happy Tail Shake" and checking everything out. He kept coming back to me and was actually giving me hugsImage

I hope that within in the next few days we can find out if there is anything else wrong with Sammy besides FLUTD(Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease)
While he is a love at home, he turns into that rotton snorting cat as soon as we get into the vets office. He is so hard to restrain that drawing the amount of blood needed to run a full panel from him is impossible.
He's probably going to have to be sedated, which concerns me because if he does have an underlying problem such as kidney disease, sedation could make it worse or possibly kill him,yet not finding out if he has a problem could kill him as well. I have no choice Image

Hopefully,he only has FLUTD,which is no picnic, but not as bad as organ failures.

Good Luck SammyImage

Paw Prints on Our Hearts (Little Wing and Oliver)
Paw Prints on Our Hearts (Little Wing and Oliver) magnify
In 2005 I went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester,MN to get a definitive diagnosis on some health problems. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia..but who cares about me LOL.
My first day back at work I found a beautiful green eyed beauty meowing at me from a cage. Her cage card read "EUTHANIZE". Both of her back legs were broken,I'm not sure if she was found or had a caretaker, but they couldn't or wouldn't pay for her surgery. She wasn't even a year old yet.Every time I walked past her cage, she would meow and drag herself to the front of the cage for my attention. I also noticed that even though both her legs were broken, she still used her litter box, NEVER MISSED IT ONCE! She also purred when ever I pet her. I asked  my boss (veterinarian) about her condition and if it was repairable. He said yes and would only charge me $500.00, to fix her. However, after the mayo clinic expenses, I didn't have $500.00 to spare at the time. I was devistated, and swallowed the lump in my throat and decided that euthanasia was the only option.
I took her home that night anyway. I wanted her to be spoiled and know that she was loved before she left this world. I didn't want her last hours spent in a cage with loud dogs barking.
When we got home, I gave her tuna, catnip, toys and a scratching post. She enjoyed her tuna loved the catnip and played and used the post (even with her broken legs). She amazed me that night, she showed me so much affection and her will to live was so strong. Even though both of her legs were not functioning she didn't let that stop her from enjoying life! She touched my heart and soul and inspired me,  even though I myself constantly feel pain, I can still enjoy life!
That night I did something I never thought I would do. I emailed everyone I knew and asked if they could donate money for her surgery and I would do anything they asked, such as yard work, cleaning windows, you name it!
My brother who had released a new music Cd at the time, posted her story on his blog and offered a free CD to anyone that could help.

A few hours later I received message from a fellow rescue person named Paula, she offered to pay for Little Wings surgery in memory of a cat named Oliver that she had taken in, who she promised a forever home to, and he unfortunately succumbed to heart disease and passed away unexpectedly.

Little Wings surgery went well, my boss/vet came in while the clinic was closed on a sunday evening and repaired her legs. Today she is doing wonderful, and besides some limping when the weather changes or after playing to hard, she runs and climbs as well as a cat that never had broken legs.

Please read Olivers story next.
