- Why Lie?

Help understand why do people lie. I am the type of individual that is upfront and honest. I will lay everything on the table when I first meet someone. I like for others to know what type of situation they are getting into before making a decision...I give YOU the choice. But, why not give me the same respect. Why does a person choose to lie rather than allow me to make decision to enter a situation...isn't that being selfish? If your friendship or relationship began with lie it doom from the start...trust is lost.
I just can't wrap my head around a person reasons for lying...
Am I wrong for ending a friendship or relationship if most was built around a lie? or should I forgive and move past the issue?
