Gotta love snow days.
The wife had to be at work at 5:30am so I got up and out of the house and retrieved the bus. Brought it home and picked up the wife and child. Took Christy to work, and while there met one of the local cops and he said that school had been cancelled. Cool for Katherine, but I still had to work.
I take the bus over to my first pick-up point and sit and wait (I'm about 20 minutes early to warm up the bus). While waiting my boss calls me on the radio and tells me that all transportation services are cancelled for the day. I verify by asking, "I get to go home???"
Yup. Snow day for me too!!!!
Too bad Christy is still stuck at work.![]()
PS. They are forcasting between 10-15 inches of snow for today (even though we've only got about 2-3 right now
Well, we had another fire last night. Unfortunately this time there was a fatality. We actually had three patients:
Life is precious everyone. Live it to the fullest. |
Anyone that’s ever gone on a fire call knows the excitement of responding to a fire with lights and sirens blaring.
Not everyone that goes on a fire call knows the anxiety of finding out that you’re going to the house of one of your own.
Tonight we had just that call.
One of our Captain’s came home and found his house filled with smoke and heat. We all got there and found “smoke showing.” The fire appears to have started somewhere near the toaster, while the family was away. Luckily, it also appears that the fire put itself out without our help. Unfortunately, his kitchen is no longer usable.
I’d like everyone out there to remember that we are all lucky to be alive and that no matter how much we value our possessions that it’s our health that matters. This family may have a slightly singed house, but they are all alive and well.
God bless firefighters everywhere.
